What life advice did your father hand down?

The best was what his father told him when he got shocked from an electrical outlet at the age of 4. "That'll learn ya!"

For me, my dad never gave me one liners. He just taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to it and that it's far more rewarding working for what we have than just buying it.

Let me guess your father wasn't a very successful man.

Mine told me not to piss against the wind. He also said that the best view is from the top and even better if you are standing on someone's back.

I guess that depends on how you define success. I'll bet we disagree on the definition.

my dad passed away way too early and i feel that he worked way too much in his life and that is why he died too young, so basically without him even knowing, he taught me to not work your life away and enjoy your time away from work. i think that is part of the reason that i work no more than 40 hours a week and never will.

My dad mainly showed me that he cares about money and appearances and told me roughly - if you have money you need to be making more money with it.

If you have kids, you don't get to have dates or party anymore, you don't get to go on vacations or have fun until they leave the house...

Sounds kinda depressing. 😱
