This thread isn't about whether or not I should buy one, it's about what one I should get.
Let's say, ~$700, preferably no higher. No smaller than 17". I have an ATI Radeon 9500pro w/ DVI out so I want a monitor with a DVI input.
I do a lot of 2D work - I don't game much any more. Mostly webdesign and programming of one type or another. And lots of writing papers. And of course, I watch DVD's and video files on my computer. Quite a lot, actually. I *do* game, just not a lot. Neverwinter Nights. And Unreal2 (when I get it). And HL2 and Doom3 when they come out.
I don't spend all my time right in front of my monitor - usually when I'm watching a movie I sit back a few feet. I'd like a good viewing angle, because I'm not always in line with the screen; usually, but not always.
I was thinking of the Solarism LM1711
