what kind of wallet does one put in $200 jeans?

so, I'm turning 30 in a couple months and I was thinking that maybe as a birthday gift to myself, I should buy myself a grown-up, high-end wallet that's going to last a couple decades instead of buying $20 wallets and replacing them every year or two.

any suggestions?

I saw a few that looked great at Brooks Brothers, but I'm going to actually need to schlep into Manhattan first; I'm a little particular when it comes to wallets, so it's not necessarily a decision that I'd make just based on pictures.

needs to be a bi-fold, leather, no ID holder window (just a useless "feature" that only adds bulk), and at least 3 credit card slots that pull out vertically, not horizontally (because I like to be able to reach into my pocket and pull a credit card out of my wallet without having to whip out my whole wallet if I've got a lot of cash on me and I'm in the city... same reason I have no interest in a money clip; I've got no desire to have to whip out a wad of cash just to pay for a $2 coffee on a street corner).

I have a wallet that meets your specifications, but it's not super fancy. It's a black leather ralph lauren wallet. I've had it for at least 5 years. It's endured a lot of rough conditions too. I also don't worry about pulling it out on the street, because I put an H&K USP Compact in my $200 jeans. :ninja:

There is no wallet that goes with $200 jeans; there are only purses.

The main thing people wearing $200 jeans put in their pockets are autographed 4 x 6 glossy photos of themselves, collar popped and shirt unbuttoned to the navel, the better to highlight their Golden Guido man jewelry, swinging and clanking from their tanning salon burnt necks.

Poseur sun glasses and cowboy boots on guy that's never been east of New Jersey, and the picture is complete.

you can put your American Express card and your $500 in a money clip that is solid gold or silver w/ your initials

(not sure if that is a correct stereotype)

someone grabs your wallet and runs in a place full of people and you're going to shoot him?
any money isn't worth the risk of killing someone innocent.

I've been looking for a new wallet for what seems like years. I've found they are all either too plain and boring, and then at the point where they are nice, they are too expensive to justify, as many of them don't have many places to hold things.

Me, I carry a 22 year old Wal-Mart wallet in my $14 Wranglers.

Money clips FTW. I can't stand sitting on my wallet in my back pocket, and fits ridiculously in my front pocket. Haven't had either problem with money clips. I also rarely carry no more than $20 cash (usually none), FWIW.

Try the Saddleback leather ones. They aren't overly expensive, ~50 USD, come in a variety of designs, different leather colors, and will outlast you.

Why do you need a money clip for $20? You carry it all in singles?

ok ill be that guy that states a $30 pair or wranglers can feel just as comfortable. then use the $170 you got left over to go to the strip club where you dont need a wallet anyway.

OP, I have just the item for you. How about one of those over-priced Coach purses (with matching wallet). The pair will set you back hundreds but they will last and you will be making a statement in your $200 jeans!

A skinny one. You spent $200 on jeans after all.

I'd go for a trifold leather wallet. I have a lot of cards and it is very convenient to keep them in. Having the id window is useful when being carded for booze. If you are too old to be carded (or don't drink), then you should look for a wallet without one.
