You can pick up a 30" phillips CRT Refurb for under $400 shipped with hdmi. Being a CRT type it will last you for ever, or it should. I bought one last year for the same price and the picture is sweet. Yes it may weigh 250lbs but a crt still gives the best picture then any other format.

LMK and I will pm the link to you if you want.

I'd go with that or a similar regular TV. WII == 480p == basic signal. DVD == basic close to 480p == basic signal (well slightly better). No HDTV? Why pay $$$ now when it's only going to get cheap over the next couple of years. Note that the usual argument of "it's always going to get cheaper" doesn't apply as much as the price drops will be greater than normal as HDTV becomes the norm (or closer to the norm) due to mass upgrading.

So buy something cheap now that does what you want and save your $$$ for something decent -- 1080p is going to be much cheaper in a year or two when you upgrade to the next console that supports it.

Microcenter had deals on the Olevia brands...I have a 37" LCD...I would recommend that...I dont have HD service now but I always buy devices that have the most current technology in the event that I go that way. The HD movies looks awesome on the TV.

You know that is a monitor from tiger direct. It doesnt have any kind of tv tuner at all and will need to have a vcr, or cable/sat box hooked up to it to watch "tv"

Just thought you want to know or need to know since they have it listed as a lcd "display".

Ok just wanted to make sure you knew that model didnt have any tuner since Tiger really didnt make it clear but kinda around about way. Would of hate for you to have paid that much to get and and be all mad because you couldnt even hook up your cable tv to it :p
Seems like a decent price though for just a big ass monitor.

not because it doesn't have a tuner but i realized thats probably more than i should spend right now. i think i'm gonna go look around at the stores and see what CRTs they have. plus i'm still really hesitant to order something like that online.

OH, owe man, that hurt me. I thought it was because of me and pointing out youd be screwed for its nothing but a monitor. Oh well, buyers remmorse sets in with you then. I used to be like that when I was younger. Buy something, then on the way home talk myself into why I dont need to have it, turn around and return it, then get home sitting on the couch bored with nothing to do going "Damnit why did you return it?" :p
