ATOT, I need your help! ;)

I was walking through Safeway earlier this evening and walked down the liquor aisle trying to decide what I should drink tonight... and decided upon tequila. What kind of tequila should I get?

Something ~$50 or less per bottle would be ideal.

Patron?
Don Julio?
Anejo?
Something else completely different?

And no, I don't want to try and do it DainBramaged style... ;)

Is this just for you?

Patron is good for just about all types of tequila drinkers. Can't really comment on the rest except for this stuff my friend's father gets from Mexico every year and boy is that stuff good. Don't recall the name though.

I'll likely share some of the tequila with a friend, but it'll just be ours...

Do you have a BevMo around you? Check that place out and ask the floor guys, they'll set you straight.

I believe I am just eight miles away from the local BevMo in Oakland, so I could definitely swing by there later. :D

Patron. Don't settle for anything else in all honesty. Stuff is gold compared to the trash that is cheaper tequila. It's smooth and has a good taste unlike other crap. Well, taste is subjective. If you know you like the taste of tequila, even cheaper brands (how? lol), then you will definitely like how Patron tastes. It's the only tequila I can say I actually like. I've sat in a circle and done consecutive shots of the stuff, and I will NOT do that with any other brand. You don't even need the lime, although it just works with a nice bottle of chilled Patron, to have a shot and taste the lime. Unlike with cheaper tequila, where the lime is needed to take the edge off the horrible taste and slight burn, the lime just compliments the flavor of Patron. Like I said, it's not necessary and I've had it without the lime and enjoyed it still.

Patron is the Grey Goose of Tequila. It's good, but overhyped for what it is. It's not the end-all but it is definately the crap you get out of a plastic jug. :p

Add in Jagermeister too. They all followed the same marketing strategy and they all captured the same demographic: ignorant children.

First of all I LOVE tequila. Honestly I fucking love tequila. My advice is Jose Cuervo which is pretty cheap but tastes good gets you real fired up.

Cool. Let me know when I should swing by and if you want me to bring anything. Get me some Delerium Tremens while you're at BevMo.

Don't get shot.

We like getting shot here in the nickel-dime. If I'm not dodging bullets I feel like my fellow citizens have stopped caring about me.

Went with Don Julio last weekend, and now will likely go with something like Patron (or something more than $40, probably).

I've always like Jose Cuervo but I haven't had much tequila. Plus I wouldn't pay over $20 for a fifth of any liquor.

I second Cazadores.. Either that or Sauza Hornitos.. You can buy a bottle of Cazadores and Sauza Hornitos for the price of a bottle of Patron.. and IMO, both are better..

Buy a couple of smaller bottles and try them out.

I vote for Jose, though. I'm not really a tequila person, though.
