my crown vic needs two new mufflers, i want something with a growl but not so loud that i can't hear the passengers ;) Cheap is a necessity though. At work we carry:
flowtech raptors
cherry bombs
terminator mufflers(also flowtech?)
holly aerochamber
i can get a lot of other kinds, those are just what we stock. What sounds good on a 4.6 SOHC?

I have a 1987 Crown Vic and I used Walker 5.0l mustang replacement mufflers. It sounds great, almost like a 5.0l mustang. Really makes people take a second look. Lifetime warranty on the mufflers.

some people told me that dynomax super turbo's were good too, but if i'm going to get a glass pack muffler i'd rather get cherry bombs where they're only $30 apiece. How do cherry bombs sound on 4.6's?

If you're going to get a glasspack make sure it doesn't have anything that pokes into the exhaust stream (i.e. louvers).

how loud are they millenium? my friend has them on his 1970 trans am and you can barely talk to each other. of course there is no soundproofing and its a big block poncho.

and why no louvres? they do have them, about 1/4" in size

Super Turbos are not Glass Packs.

Glass packs are illegal here. Super Turbos are not. Check your local laws first. Just because you can buy it in a store doesn't mean its legal.

Super Turbos are on my Mopar and are very loud.

Mufflers are for fools. Just attach old coffee cans to the tail of your current exhaust.

I'd say go with the Flowmaster 40 series, but get the ones with "delta flow" these don't resonate quite as much inside the car, yet still sound beefy outside.

Both the Magnaflows and the Flowmasters sound great... I prefer the 40series Delta sound but they can get really loud. Prolly a 50series would be better though to keep the interior sound down to comfy grandma levels.

For not quite so much noise as the 2-chamber Flowmeisters, get either good 'ol super turbos or 3-chamber Flowmasters if ya got the bucks.

For Pete's sake, don't get glasspacks (i.e. Cherry Bombs)

I also have 2 X 2 1/2" Dyno Weld Series... mine is a low rumble but not at all loud (the way I like it) it's louder then when I had a 70 series Flowmaster on it though but not by much, and only at WOT

Very illegal.

on ODB2 vehicles it'll also activate your SES light.. CAT's aren't like they were in the 80's and 90's now though, they actually flow pretty good, my buddy's Lightning didn't even pick up a 1/10th in the 1/4 mile when he removed his and his now has a Blower on it.

I mention the blower cause Forced Induction vehicles benefit more from better flowing exhaust

for the most part yes. i think on older vehicles in some places you can run without the cats. but for new cars it's definately illegal. that wasn't meant to be a serious suggestion. :)

It is if the car was manufactured after a certain date, here. For the car in question, yes it is.
