Hopefully I burnt off all the hair including the root. Now wait til it cools and I can scrape it with a knife.

Looks really close to the YT vid you posted so I'd say you are on the right track. I will say the YT video you linked to was in Chinese with no CC so it was hard to follow along. Dong Po Rou is what the translator came up with and it looks close so I'll go with that.

It looks like a really good dish so let us know how it turns out.

Remembered the kids didn't like it the last time I tried so did the Taiwanese braised pork belly instead. With meatballs, fish balls, pork ribs, kelp knots and egg. Also fish floss and stir fried Taiwanese baby nappa.

Looks really good!
Yeah I get it sometimes the food I make isn't really liked by my kids either. Hopefully as they get older they will come to appreciate all the time, patience, and work that comes with putting food on the table.:) It can be really disheartening though when they don't eat it.

This one is from your neck of the woods @WelshBloke . It is a 1390 recipe from The Forme of Cury which is widely regarded as Englands oldest known cookbook.

This recipe consists of braised chicken that is then simmered in a milk and honey sauce with herbs like sage, parsley, and mint for flavor.

Thanks for the link it looks delicious! I added it to my list of recipes to try.
If you make it, report back!

Listen, you seem like a nice dude. Apologies for getting snippy with you sometimes in the past, I was out of line multiple times.

Two things, the wankpanzer still sucks and will be proven to be a bad business decision. I know I'm right lol

Oh, and if you voted for Trump, I take back anything nice I just said! That's just a standard caveat I have for any interaction going forward, a 2025 resolution of mine 😁

No worries man.....I wasn't exactly the most cordial either. I didn't vote for Trump but I still think the CT looks kinda cool and unique even though I would never purchase one. I can't stand Elon that is why I purchased a Mach-E not a Model Y.

Anyway, not to change the subject entirely more of getting back to the original intention of the thread.
Is there anything better than a freshly baked loaf of homemade bread? I don't think there is expect maybe two loaves. lol

Mmmm those look good! Did you use a galbi marinade? I've read that a galbi marinade is really good when making Korean bbq chicken.
Yeap. They have chicken variety but I just buy the beef one. I add onion, scallions, carrot, honey, sesame oil, black pepper, white pepper to the marinade.

Yeah the beef one works just as good and has really good flavor even when used with chicken I even use it on fish sometimes.

It's kind of a strange coincidence but I'm also marinading some wings and thighs in galbi. Although mine says kalbi but I think the names might be interchangeable? You might know better than me on that. I don't do as much Asian cooking like you do.

Anyway, I don't marinade mine for 3 days like you just 18-24 hours and I don't add anything extra it's just the marinade but they always turn out good.

Got out my Chinese cookbook and made a Beef flank steak stir fry with tomatoes, shitakes, and ginger. Some good ole' dark and regular soy, Shaoxing wine, corn starch, and all that good stuff. Over japanese medium grain rice.

Have a lemon za'atar chicken that I marinated overnight now in the oven, almost done. Had my tablet watching the beginning of the game and making a tabbouleh, which came out great - spices in the dressing included allspice, cinnamon, and sumac plus lemon, olive oil, salt & peppah. The chicken/taters/lemons/za'atar is almost ready - there is a parsley dressing I made to go with that. My first two recipes from a Palestinian cookbook.

Stir fried flank steak with Chinese kale and Taiwanese BBQ sauce. Served on rice.

Dinner will be chicken taco.

This came out quite good. The chicken and taters just needed some salt, should have seasoned the marinade a bit more. The tabbouleh is so good. I love all the roasted onions and garlic in the bake though. So tasty.

We made an 18th century French inspired meal tonight. The main course was Canetons de Roüen à l'échalote(roasted duck)with a side of Le gratin Dauphinois and green beans.

King Ranch casserole is tonight's meal. This Tex-mex inspired recipe is stupid easy to prepare and tastes really good. If you have ever prepared an enchilada casserole this is very similar.
