Looks like a Pincher Bug (silverfish) to me, I don't see the Pincher though. And at least in my house those fuckers love to burrow into the carpet.

this is what I call a silverfish:

Google shows me lots of very similar variations, but nothing like what you posted...maybe it's the lighting, though.

silverfish thrive in old cardboard. The best defense against silverfish is to not have piles of collapsed boxes stashed away in your attack or garage.

I mean, seriously, you really aren't going to use those boxes. When you really need them, 5-20 years on, you can easily get more. ;)

...but I still don't think that is a silverfish in your sink.

Well they don't bite or pinch, they're just really creepy looking. And in carpet they can be surprisingly hard to kill depending on how plush the carpet is. I've never had enough of them to even think about calling a bug specialist to come out and help. I smoosh them and use a paper towel to throw the dead fucker away. Somebody on here had an infestation outside of their house and put a chopped in half stryo-foam cup with cooking oil in it. They apparently love it and will climb in the cup and die. In Cali we call what you got a Silverfish, well at least people I know. Some also call them ear wigs. Because they crawl in your ear while you sleep, lay 10,000 eggs which hatch and the babies will burrow their way into your brain. I googled Silverfish and found 4 images that fit what you got. But 99% were like the 2nd pic posted. I guess like a lot of bugs depending on where you live they're called different shit.

Earwigs and silverfish are totally different critters everywhere I've ever lived...and I'm in Kahleeforneeya nowadays.

IMO, neither are desirable to have in the house, especially living in the carpet.

Earwigs will pinch pets, and presumably humans also. Silverfish eat textiles. I guess of the 2 I'd rather have earwigs, but neither's too terrific to have.

Nah, if its really small, its likely a Thrip or Springtail. Check if they have a stick like thing under their abdomen, the lobed antennae type give them away. They are leaf litter insects that just eat like fungis, reeeaally small insects, and mites. These types of bugs are found in compost heaps or something or similar, don't really do anything dangerous or destructive.

Teh 2nd and 3rd are 100% Pincher Bugs, I don't care if they're harmless, they don't look it to me. I treat them like I was a police and they were a minority and just assume guilt. Besides even if they're not harmless I've never heard of any good they do. They must be bad because I've never heard a hippy bug loving SOB start to cry when I mention killing one. They do it for any other insect just about.

It's an earwig. And, I have memories of one of those suckers pinching me when I was just a little kid. Since then, I've hated the things.

Beasts in the second two pics are earwigs. Showed the first pic to an entomologist and she said it looked like a springtail.

come on. it's an earwig. the pincer on tail is an unmistakable tell tale.

they are harmless. if anything they are beneficial to you as they eat your common household pests.

and no, it's rare they go into your ear canal and eat your brains out.

I had a bunch of earwigs in my canoe once. I didn't know they were in there until I got water in the boat, and hundreds came out from under the float bags. Not exactly what I'm looking for when I'm strapped in tight :^/
