that's because we don't have that issue in texas, if I'm not mistaken your photo gets put on the right hand side of the dl at 21 or after (most people get renewed at 22)

DOB is also in red and our convenience store clerks usually have a calendar for to let them know what DOB's can do what. (Yes it's because they can't subract 21 from 2005)

I used to have a vertical license from VA. People where always like, "I've never seen one of these before" when I would show it to them (while going to college in SC). I was always like, "Don't worry, it doesn't mean I'm a serial killer or anything."

VA changes to horizontal after you turn 21, but you don't renew your license until you're 25. I had some other items and she asked if I wanted them. I just walked away. That is the stupidest policy I have ever heard of.
go to the dmv and tell them you want to get horizontal now.

Why would I go to the DMV now to pay money to buy beer that I can already legally buy?
re-issuing a license for this reason shouldn't cost you anything.

well, you can sit by idley and think it's BS or you can try to initiate change.

I'm going to try and initiate change by telling you Moshqurade to take a shower, shave, put on some make up, go outside and talk to people, meet someone new, do something exciting, or at least make your posts less stale to the reader.

That being said, whats your sigh-n baby?[/quote]

In Illinois they don't care about the birthdate on the license, I think its by law as well. You need to have a valid "Over 21" license to get beer or drink at a bar.

KY switched to that type of DL a few years back, but here you have to renew at 21, so it works well.

What is there logic of all under 21s are vert, but you don't renew until 25? That is f*cked up.

But please tell us you went and bought beer elsewhere.

I think you might be wrong there. When I was buying some beer at the grocery store recently the lady actually had to find my birthdate on my license and enter it in the computer.

I don't know about Virginia, but in Maryland your under-21 license expires on or soon after you turn 21. Might as well bite the bullet and get a new license.

What I ment was that if you have an ID with the words "Under 21" even if your birthdate states that you are 21 clerks don't care.

Thats interesting though, I know they punch in birthdate for smokes, but I haven't seen them do it for alcohol.

Why not just go to the DMV and get a horizontal one before the renew date?

go to the dmv and tell them you want to get horizontal now.

So they can charge him more money again? It's the store that's at fault here for hiring an idiot.

No you need the new license to legally be allowed to buy the beer. she had every right to turn you down if you didn't have your proper ID yet. thats just how it works, its the law.

EDIT: i'm in MD btw, and its the same thing. when you have a turn 21, you get the frontal view picture instead of the side one. even when you turn 21 and still have the side view picture, if its more than 30 days past your birthday, they legally have to turn you down.
