What kind of a gaming experience is Bioshock?

I think I have to take a break from Risen; I'm just not getting anywhere. It must be my style of play.

I ordered Bioshock during D2D's anniversary sale. Judging by the download speeds I've had so far it'll be an overnight download for me.

So I'm curious - is this game really as good as some people say it is? Is it a good distraction from a RPG?

The background, set design and storyline is more intriguing than the gameplay.

I enjoyed the story and the gameplay. The power-ups were interesting to me as well and the fact that you can't have all of them equipped at once is neat, but doesn't do that much to change the game in my opinion.

Overall, this is a great game and you should really enjoy the playthrough!

Dude, it was a mistake. Chill.

It's not like I post in the wrong forums all the time. I thought I was in PC games.

If a mod could move it that would be great.

Yes, because "pay attention dammit" is obviously flying off the handle out of control. My apologies.

Its less gratifying then posting in the correct forum.

Seriously, the game is overrated. Not too much fun. But pretty. For a FPS that was supposed to be an RPG, I recommend Fallout 3. With mods and add-ons the game is awesome.

I really liked it- gameplay wasn't amazing, but it was still really fun, and very atmospheric

That's the same way I felt about Fallout 3 that it's an FPS trying to be an RPG.

Bioshock had great atmosphere but that's pretty much it. I really wasn't hooked but I did enjoy it. Not a must play but mine as well play it to see all the hype about it.

For an RPG fan, it's really disappointing. You basically get to make one choice in the game, and it's done before you really even know you're making it. No conversations, no real interactivity.

Impressive art design, but the rest is eh.

Bioshock is a pretty good game. If you're going by all the reviews and expecting the "best game of all time" then you will be disappointed, but it's a solid FPS with some great level artwork.

You will probably start to get bored halfway through the game though. It has a very repetitive feel to it, more than most modern FPSs I've played. The story starts off very interesting but becomes dull later on, and there is little variation in the enemies or level environments. Once you have played the first 1/3 or so of the game, you have seen everything it has to offer.

Bioshock is 10x better than Fallout 3. I never even finished Fallout 3 because there was nothing to keep me playing. The story sucked. I loved the previous fallout games but this one was a stinker and I blame Bethesda for making it Oblivion with guns.

Bioshock's story was great and kept me going. The FPS part was fun, but not as cool as other FPS games.

Bioshock is an excellent game, and IMHO Fallout3 doesn't hold a candle to it. Obviously people are going to make the System Shock argument, but come on... if you're looking for a good RECENT game with nice visuals, Bioshock absolutely delivers. The story, IMHO, is pretty good considering the competition.

The scenery was cool. Art design was cool but that pretty much was it. The twist was meh as it's been done to death and the gameplay wasn't that good.

It was pretty enjoyable. The collecting (plasmids, photos, weapon powerups, etc.) was fun. The story was pretty interesting. The world was awesome and very creepy at some points. The shooting seems pretty spot-on and the plasmids really give you some interesting options to take down enemies.

Why all the comparisons with Fallout 3? The 2 games are not even remotely similar.

Both very good to great games.

Bioshock: Corridor Shooter with RPG elements, very nice Graphics, highly detailed Environments, excellent Ambiance, Good Story, relatively Bug Free. Similar Games: System Shock 2(duh), Deus Ex

Fallout 3: Open World Shooter with RPG elements, decent Graphics, nicely detailed Environments, good Ambiance, very Good Story, very buggy. Similar Games: Stalker, Far Cry 2, GTA San Andreas

Get both, enjoy both
