Furthermore, with Droid's inability to do multitouch, of course its onscreen keyboard sucks. The iPhone keyboard trumps all other onscreen keyboards.. BY FAR. HTC's Touch HD2 and Droid Eris come closest..

FYI, the Droid does support multitouch, it's just not used by the OS/google's apps. Developers can have multitouch features. I think they were avoiding a lawsuit from Apple, but it's conceivable that they could turn it on at any time. Also, I've heard you can download a much better on screen keyboard.

The reasons why I don't have an iphone are the same in why I don't have any smart phone. The cost of the data plan is too much for me and I'm not used to having to charge my phone every day (or thereabouts). The phone charging could be relearned, but I really wish they would lower the cost of the data plan, which is unlikely from happening anytime soon.

I love my Android phone.

Oh wait.

Edit: There are indeed a number of 3rd party keyboards that are awesome. Mine is called TouchPal, and it's a huge improvement over the stock keyboard.

unfortunately, it looks like all the latest and greatest smartphones are requiring a data plan. pre requires one, the droid requires one, iphone has required one since the 3G came out last year, etc.

Funny thing about threads liek this is most of the people making lists never even owned one, and just dislike Apple. Get over it.

1. Everyone hates iTunes. Its crap. Apple sucks for that piece of shit, but its improving.
2. You can sync it with more than one computer. Dont be an idiot.
3. Physical keyboard is another good point.
4. Smudges on the phone is a retarded reason. Take a fucking shower.
5. ATT service is better than some dude that heard a story about somewhere has told you. Verizon has the same issues, just a bigger epeen.
6. The alternatives are not bad. That doesnt make the iPhone bad.
7. iTunes sucks.
8. We all know you want one if you were given one.
9. My original iPhone i got for free is awesome. Suck it.

Umm no Verizon does not have the same issues. No where near close.

No physical keyboard
No multi-tasking (once you've tried it you won't believe how you lived without it)
No customization of the OS
No expandable memory
No replaceable batteries
AT&T network reliability
AT&T plan prices
iTunes
Commie App store holding back good apps

No multitasking?
My iPhone has its browser up, PDANet serving my internet connection, Music playing with AIM in the backgroud pushing me messages.

No OS customization?
I guess youve never used Cydia.

No physical keyboard
No expandable memory
No replaceable batteries
iTunes

Those are all fine, first one is a taste issue not a fault. I dont want a physical keypad. Expandable memory and batteries are about the only two legit points that cak irk anyone. However i have not had an issue with either. I plug it in when I get home. iTunes sucks.

AT&T network reliability?
Ive been disconnected maybe 3 times in the last 8 months. There are few and far between places in my city and where I live out in the woods that doesnt get signal.

AT&T plan prices?
+20$ unlimited data and 200 texts isnt exactly horrible but it could be better.

They maintain and govern the App store. How about you spend the money they do providing such a service that would of never gotten of the ground in the first place without them? They have every right to filter things that dont agree with their bottom line or relationship with ATT. They are in business to make money. Not to mention I can install any app I damn well please regardless so its a moot point. The AppStore is a -good- thing not a bad thing. People are so spoiled.

iTunes works much better on a Mac. Much more responsive.

The battery life is pretty shocking with a lot of usage on the 3G one though...

Annoying things about the iphone:
1. The multitasking is weak and gimmicky. If I want to run pandora + a web browser, let me do it, even if it kill my battery life.
2. ATT network. It's a pile of shit. The reception is awful and I lose signal a lot faster than any verizon phone
3. ITunes: really bulky and sync'ing is kind of a pain in the ass if you dont just automate everything

Good things about iphone
1. Mindshare. Way way way more apps than anything else out right now. Sure a lot of it is crap but a lot of it is really good a well.
2. Lots of accessories. Kind of speaks to the first point. Since a lot of people use iphones, a lot of companies make accessories for it. Makes it really convenient to get whatever you need
3. In-phone itunes. I guess I dont know what the deal is w/ the other phones but being able to stream podcasts that are listed through the itunes app is really really convenient. Can't imagine doing without it.

Jailbreaking an iPhone doesn't mean the iPhone has multi-tasking. That's modifing the OS and making it do something it doesn't do out of the box. It's the same as modding a car after you buy it and saying it can do something when first bought when it can't unless you mod it. Not everyone wants to void their warranty to do what other lesser phones can do out of the box.

Stock iPhone that everyone gets has no customization or multi-tasking.

Also if you think holding back progression is great then ok but Apple is known for holding back basic features in their products and when someone else creates an app to unlock it or a feature in their computers they go crazy, but when Apple releases it they make it cool and awesome. Even the name jailbreaking comes from liberating your phone from Apple's software "jail".

Depending on the area AT&T or Verizon can good or bad. Verizon isn't great everywhere, neither is AT&T. I agree with your points, except one. iTunes doesn't really suck. I plug my iPhone in and it syncs new contacts, emails and my calendar all seamlessly. I'll be honest I don't even remember the last time I actually went into the program. People say it's slow on the PC. I plug my phone in and it's synced in 30 seconds or less. I don't even notice iTunes is running. If it sucked like so many people claim, it wouldn't work. I've never had it not sync my phone on the first attempt. Something I cannot say about ActiveSync, which is a program written by MS for an MS OS and a phone that runs a MS OS.

I will say LOL to dude saying you can't customize the OS really? I have modded my iPhone from the OS all the way to the interface. In fact if I took a video of my using my phone the only way you'd know it's an iPhone is because how the device looks. The UI has been changed 100% to my liking and looks nothing like an iPhone's out the box.

I can multitask, I was just IM'ing somebody while I using Logmein to connect to a clients PC. If I owned a Droid I wouldn't be able to use Logmein. I rarely use multitasking on a cell phone. I think people who say "OMG I NEED IT SO MUCH!" are a bit full of it, but if you need it, iPhones can be modded to do it in about 2 minutes.

Yup, Apple doesn't approve all apps for their store, I'm sure some great ones have gotten shot down. But what's the alternative? Well my WM6.1 phone doesn't have MS motoring shit when it comes to apps. And I have installed 2 different apps that forced me to format the phone to make it usable again. And I'd rather know the apps I'm installing won't b0rk my phone over having access to more apps. Oh, and even with Apple denying many apps, they still have 10 times what any other phone has so it's a moot point. In the end there's not a single app I need or want any more. My iPhone does EVERYTHING I need it to, and does it better than any other phone.
