the sound quality doesnt' match the price, imo.

the first time i listened to a Bose home theater setup, i kept thinking something wasn't hooked up properly because it sounded cruddy. after checking and double checking, i concluded it just didn't sound very good.

Don't listen to these queers.

Bose makes a good speaker. Among the best in the regular retail world.

The differnece?

They are HORRIDLY overpriced for what they are. If Bose didn't control the prices(they completely do, you can't have a sale on Bose) they'd be considered "better"

Best in the retail world is really pushing it. You have Athena, Klipsch, JBL, Infinity....yadada you get the point all easily available at your local worst buy and I betcha any of these could easily match any of the Bose speakers sold today.

Simply put, you cannot get a 2.5" driver to cover 20-20K Hz. Simply cannot be done. Not to mention the plastic cabinets on the satellites. Obviously they are pushing the "blend it into your decor factor" but like you mentioned that shouldn't take up the cost as they have done. It also doesn't mean they should throw around terms as if they are the best speaker you can buy, which couldn't be any further from the truth.

hmmm I was exceedingly drunk when I posted last night.

Anyway.

Yes, you can get those retail. I actually have the best sound system Circuit City offers(or did at the time), Infinity IL40's and a Polk SW503. Naturally kicks the hell out of any bose system....but costs as much or more. Better bang for your buck, but Bose is still way better than the average Sony, Pioneer type crap most people buy.

My Klipsch 5.1 Ultra own anything that Bose makes. They're a marketing company, not a speaker company.

Buy Klipsch or JBL or anything else.

bose is excellent for sound performance and money.

the bose speakers that are in my car fucking rock. if i didn't know better i'd think i have an external sub in my trunk as well.

as far as home speakers go, i'd personally go with something else because i am going to be getting higher end speakers than bose, and for what you pay for them, you could probably get better actual speakers.

that doesn't mean their speaker suck though.

blast from the past!

Bose- the Dyson/Apple of speakers.

If you want better speakers for half the price, look up Cambridge Soundworks.

Guarantee this guy is paid by bose. BAN PLEASE!

I worked at circuit city long ago and bose only purpose is to sell to old people who can't hear much anymore. I never sold them to anyone under the age of 55. They are a status symbol with little substance behind it. Just make sure you connect them with monster cables to get the best sound:thumbsdown:
