Actually not really true. The Bose sub-sat systems (the most popular Bose speakers among uneducated consumers) are ALL highs and lows, no mids.

well the acoustimass set i've heard through my mates HK amp sounded very full, with plenty of mid range...
i bet at least 3/4 of the people bashing bose in this thead are going on an article they read on the net, not actually hearing them through a decent amp...
EDIT: tho in true forum fashion they will deny this strongly, even if they haven't heard them 😛

I've auditioned many speakers. The Bose, quite simply, sounded awful next to just about any entry level high end speaker system or set. The mids were completely gone.
My amps in my home theater systems are HK, by the way. Very nice sound, but annoying functionality quirks.

If you think Bose are worth buying, I've got a $500 power cable to sell you... 😉
With that said, if I could afford it, I'd rather have a setup with decent professional studio monitors rather than this "audiophile" nonsense.
In one sense of the word, that is quite true. Unfortunately, I have a bad taste of the term "audiophile," from at one time being around someone who believes in magic pebbles, $2000 speaker cables, and little strangely-CF-card-shaped devices to improve the sound of one's CDs. :roll:Originally posted by: Excelsior

Bose makes a good speaker. Among the best in the regular retail world.
The differnece?
They are HORRIDLY overpriced for what they are. If Bose didn't control the prices(they completely do, you can't have a sale on Bose) they'd be considered "better"
