my mate has a set of acoustimass ones running through his harmann-kardon amp and they sound awesome to me 😱

THAT IS A LIE, bose might be better than some crap but for the price ANYTHING at the price range will ALMOST always be BETTER.

EDIT: they really sound better than his older bookcase Marantz speakers, much fuller and rounded, and as has been said classical stuff sounds great out of them, again IMHO.

I'm not trying to make an argument based on price (since they aren't mine and i wouldn't buy them anyway), but i honestly do reckon they sound very good (certainly compared to my 5.1 90w altec lansing set and most smaller stereos i've ever heard (JVC/Sony etc) anyway 😱).
 
I used to be a Fanboy after reading Crutchfield. Then got a pair of Infinity's. WAY better.

Bose speakers: 3/10 Bose marketing: 9/10.

I guess it's profitible selling mediocre speakers for high prices to people who can't hear the differnece.

I'm currently the lone "They don't suck" vote. They certainly aren't the best speakers out there, but compared to the crap that comes with some mini systems, they're not that bad. Certainly overpriced though.

Wrong. The $150 mini hifi 3 disc pioneer system I bought when I was 16 sounds better than that $3K bose crap, it actually has a decent midrange. Ive heard Bose in a friends home and the supposedly top of the line model on display at J&R in NYC, the price tag is a joke.
 
People like Bose cuz they haven't heard anything better FOR THE SAME PRICE.

The keyword is price. If they cost as much a KLH HTiB, I wouldn't be complaining. But for $3000, you can definitely do better.
