what is your favourite jet/plane?

i'm curious to see what everyone thinks 😉 personally my favourite has to be the F-14D 'Super Tomcat' 😀

The F-22 is vaporware until it sees actual combat 😉

My favorite jet plane is the F-16C Fighting Falcon.

i'd take my tried and tested F-14 any day over the F-22. plus who else can carry 8 Phoenix's? :Q

LOL at the F/A 18...what a loser plane 😉

Hehe, it lost out to the F-16 back in the mid-70's when the AirForce was looking for a new low-cost fighter. The F-16 out flew, out maneuvered and went faster than that little bag of bones. If it hadn't been for the Navy feeling sorry for them, the F/A 18 wouldn't even be here 😛

Piper J3 Cub because I have a shot at actually owning one someday.

For military aircraft, it's a tossup among the Messerschmitt 262 Schwalbe (first operational jet-fighter), the P-51D Mustang, the P-38J Lightning, and the Lockheed F117A, which has the RADAR signature of a 3/4-inch ball bearing.

EDIT: About the FA-18D, it was selected by the Navy not because of any amount of "feeling sorry for it", but rather because the Navy does not want anything to do with single engine aircraft unless it has no other choice. The FA-18 was a good compromise of safety and maneuverability (sp?), and can fly rings around most other "two-holers".

i can't believe i forgot the A10!
/me smacks forhead

that thing is probably the safest plan you'll ever fly in... can have a huge hole in the wing, thousands of rounds through the skin, one engine blown off and one of the rear stabalizers missing and still make it home 😉 plus the pilot sits in a titanium bathtub... 😛

I have seen footage of the SU-37 performing maneuvers that were heretofore felt to be aerodynamically impossible - just amazing. That said, the A-10's butt-ugly scariness is undeniable and it is my favorite.

Here's my list 🙂.
B-17
B-52
X-1
X-15
F-14
P-51
B747-400
C152
RV-4
A-10
A-6

😀 There is more...

I love the Phabulous Phantom. It is the plane that put America ahead after World War II. Basic philosophy was, make a tough ass plane, and stick on the two most powerful engines on it. It did everything, SEAD, CAP, Air-refueling, precision attacks, and it looked great in the process. My favorite phantom is the F-4E. The current F-4ICE is an extremely capable modern updated Phantom, but the ultimate Phantom has to be the F-4E updated to KURNASS, or 2000 standard by IAI of Israel.

All your planes are woosie planes, except for the A-10.

SU-37, it?s actually not my favorite, but for the maneuvers it can do I like it a lot. It can basically stop in mid air, descend tail first, and start back upwards with no problem at all.

No planes can carry 8 Phoenix's as armament. Not EVEN the F-14s. The max the F-14 can carry is 6, with two sidewinders and two tanks. Even then, if it has not expended the phoenix' by the time it gets back to the carrier, it has to jettison them.

NFS4,

You make a lot of people made when yous ay the F/A-18 is a woosie plane. It has far greater low speed agility, has the reliability of two engines, and is the United State's first TRUE multi-role aircraft. The F-15 and F-16 had multi-role in mind, but it was the F/A-18 that was built specifically for A-G and A-A missions. The F/A-18D is one sexy bitch! So is the block 52 F-16C. MAMAMIA!

Viper GTS,

The F-22...bah...we'll see what it can do. IT's the most kick ass plane in the world, but it'll never have the reputation the F-4 Phantom or P-51 had. Know of any other fighters that pushed another wounded plane back to safety?
