My favorite is Plextor. No contest.

However, I couldn't afford one so I settled for a 10x4x32 HP9350i (which I got new from a tip from the Hot Deals Forum for $25 after rebate). I love it (especially for the price and the speed improvenment over my old 2x burner) and haven't made a coaster yet.

Can you tell that we're all Plextor zealots? Other alternatives to consider are the excellent TDK VeloCD 12/10/32 or Yamaha.

I know I'm going against the crowd, but I'd highly recommend a Plextor. My 8/4/32 works great :)

You know Plextor's aren't the best in every category. They just excel in most. They do have their faults.

For example, the 12/10/32 are kinda slow data readers with not the least impressive seek times.

Another vote for Plextor. It's true that they do have probs, but compared to the 5 other brands I've tried, Plextor is superior

Plextor all the way. I got one coming in the mail sometime soon. Brand new 16x10x40x CD-RW. Can't wait to unleash the power of that suckah.

To each his own.

I've had HP's, Mitsumi's, Teac's...

And I love my Teac. It's great. Don't really need BURN-PROOF. My buffer rarely goes below 97%. And it has good read speeds and decent DAE extraction...

So I say TEAC!!!

I like the TDK because it comes with Nero already.
I had the same debate, I was going to get the Plextor but decided to try TDK and am very happy with it. Not a coaster yet, gota love that burnproof.

I have both the Iomega/Plextor 12x10x32 IDE and the Imation/Plextor 8x20 SCSI, and while the 12x10x32 is fast, I love my 8x20!

Plextor makes good stuff...they're even better when you can get them cheaper than the competitors!

You have chosen wisely, I heard the TDK 12/10/32 is a rebadged Plextor but the TDk 16/10/40 isn't?

Lite-on. Why? Because it has all the features of the 12x plextor for a fraction of the price. Many people on this forum are buying them. If Lite-on keeps up this up they'll be top dog in the cdrw scene.

I'd have to say Plextor. I've used Memorex and Yamaha drives, besides my Plextor and the others don't match up to my Plextor 12/10/32 scsi drive.
