If the bus driver had punted the little sh!t right through the window he and his mother would be at their lawyers now suing the bus driver, the school and the state of Georgia for enough money to live on the rest of their lives.

At least I imagine that they would. Does anyone disagree?

that's why i said "i would be so tempted"
but obviously would not do it.
that's the madening part.. can't teach the little pr!ck a lesson... grr. :|

- Kids
Kids!
I don't know what's wrong with these kids today!
Kids!
Who can understand anything they say?
Kids!
They a disobedient, disrespectful oafs!
Noisy, crazy, dirty, lazy, loafers!
While we're on the subject:
Kids!
You can talk and talk till your face is blue!
Kids!
But they still just do what they want to do!
Why can't they be like we were,
Perfect in every way?
What's the matter with kids today?
Kids!
I've tried to raise him the best I could
Kids! Kids!
Laughing, singing, dancing, grinning, morons!
And while we're on the subject!
Kids! They are just impossible to control!
Kids! With their awful clothes and their rock an' roll!
Why can't they dance like we did
What's wrong with Sammy Caine?
What's the matter with kids today!

"He was punching me in the face and head"

February 4, 2002 -- It can be one of the most frustrating, dangerous jobs in metro Atlanta: public school bus drivers.

On a daily basis they face not only the hazards of the highway, but the taunting, the threats, even attacks from some of the children who ride their buses.

This special assignment report begins with the latest on veteran Fulton County bus driver Lynda Clanton. She's still recovering from a savage confrontation with a child on her bus three months ago.

"He was punching me in the face and head," she recalls. "His knee was hitting me in the chest and the stomach. When I looked up, that's when he bit me."

Now 17 stitches later, after a massive infection, and several surgeries, Clanton remains unable to go back to work.
......
The drivers that spoke to us said they felt like they were under siege, not only from some of the children but from parents and the school administrations themselves.

"The kids would laugh at you," said Deborah Warren. "Go ahead and write me up. They aren't going to do anything to me," she said is the attitude of many students.

"There is no fear."

Teen pleads guilty in attack on bus driver

I seriously blame the parents. im 15 im a kid but my parents arent what most parents are. there bastards and do not get close to there children at all. you may say whats wrong with kids but i say whats wrong with parents. for example, ever go to a baseball game with little kids playing, and there is that one asshole up on the benches screaming at his six year old son telling him what to do. thats bs and that needs to stop wth is going on. if you wanna blame anybody on this blame YOUR genaration not ours i know that may sound like a cop out and im not saying it to you personally but come on where else would they get this type of anger?

:disgust: school buses. luckily, at my school, i am in walking distance of my house, so i don't need to get them. My school is one of the best public schools in the area. the bus company came in, to give a presentation on the behaviour of the people on the buses. He named all these really dodgy inner city schools, then he goes 'ilkley, you are the worst'. He then went on to say what kinda things went on on those buses, and mentioned things like the kids would spit out the window when the bus was going through town, onto the crossing patrol guard, everyday. some idiot let off a firecracker on the top deck once also.
the bus guy then showed a video of some other school where this kid was climbing all over the seats, then spitting on people as they went down the stairs to get off the bus. Then some cop came and was like 'this boy was band from the buses', and the bus company guy mentioned 'we are looking for some loyal students who can report who is causing problems on the bus, in return, they will ride for free.
(btw, in britain we don't have yellow buses, we use th epublic double decker buses for school)

Overall, being a bus driver must be a really hard job. It's so fscking loud and distracting on those buses.

and that kid should be 5 years at least imo, and he IS a minority

Ah yes, the kid who bit the bus driver....this was quite a big story here in Atlanta. I can't speak for the youth of today in general, but this particular kid has a history of violent acts and obviously has some serious mental problems.

Followup story posted a few days ago.

Before she could react, he was choking her, forcing her head under his arm and pummeling her face and stomach with his fist, according to police reports.

"I couldn't believe what was happening," she said. "I was in complete shock." Two girls frantically tried to pull the teenager off Clanton. Before letting go, he sank his teeth into her face and yanked hard.

"I heard a ripping sound and it felt like my whole face was coming off," she said.

That moment haunts Clanton in her nightmares. Over and over, she sees the boy's smirking face in the rearview mirror as she watches him leave the bus.

She attended his felony hearing in February and watched as a Fulton County judge sentenced him to two to five years in a juvenile facility. That was when she found out he had a history of violent behavior.

He got into fights at his previous school, McNair Middle. He pulled a knife on his mother and tried to set fire to his grandmother, according to testimony at the sentencing hearing. He'd been sent to reform school but was allowed to come home. She's still not sure how he ended up on her bus. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is withholding his name because he is a juvenile.

Sounds like juvvie and the Fulton Co. School system both dropped the ball allowing this little sh*t back in with the regular student population. :|

Dealing with 3 bad kids right now ages 8, 10 and 14. They live outside our subdivision but of course come in here to cause the havoc. The 8 & 10 yr olds have been pulling pranks and writing on houses while the 14 yr old has been jumping out in front of passing cars playing with himself and yelling suck me. The local Sheriff says there is nothing they can do until they commit major crimes.

Charming. Perhaps you could capture them on video and anonymously leave the tape in their parents' mailbox?:D

On all the busses at the high school I went to there was a little box up in the front of the bus in the middle of the little bit above the windshield. It said "A camera may be active" or some crap like that and there was a little red LED that was always on. I dont think there was ever a camera in there but just the thought of it prolly keeps kids a bit calmer/more restrained.

One word: Parents

Parents are either scared to discipline their children or simply don't care.

The good thing is my son will have very few competent people to compete with when he gets older.

Yup. The montisori people can never answer the question of what you do with a kid who cuses the parents, spits at the parents, and will follow no command or request and simply responds FU to any command (I have seen this actual case from a 1st grader).

No kidding. I have several friends who are grade school teachers here inthe metro area.....I am continually dumbfounded at some of the stories they tell me about the kids they teach.

Zero parental involvement = bad kid 95% of the time.

Have already caught the kids red handed many times and many people have gone to the parents. The parents do not care.

That's just sad. Parents don't care because their parents probably didn't care and the cycle repeats itself. :(

This is one of the biggest reasons we have these problems. It is totally the boy's fault. There are thousands of people who had the same society to grow up in who didn't bite their bus driver. If it was society's fault then every 17 year old kid would be biting their bus driver. Come on!

Yup, even with good parenting, if their child go berserk for no apparent reason, it's still parents fault for not predicting irrational behavior of their child.:p

typical way of thinking these days...

unless the kid has a frickin' brain tumor or rabies, or some medical condition, it will not go beserk for "no apparent reason".

Lack of personal responsibility, primarily by parents....which is then passed on to their children, but which tends to manifest itself in bizarre ways.
Of course, parenting must start when children are VERY young, not when they are pre-teen/teenage.
If a parent waits to actually START parenting then...it's far too late.

When personal responsibility goes out the window, so does the ability of social organizations (local community, school, church) to help shape kids.

If you want a 99.9% accurate picture of how your kids are gonna turn out...take a good, HARD look in the mirror.

That being said, a child's peer group in pre-teen/teenage years is VASTLY more influential than the parents/family unit at that time.

Ahh, a behavioral expert.

Relax, that was said with tongue-in-cheek. You nor I would know what makes individual behave certain way or what is a breaking
point of each individual.
