What is up with certain ATer's lately?

I tried to provide some information for people in the Hot Deals section and a certain person took it upon themselves to be the mod-dejour. And get this, that certain someone actually had the audacity to PM me just to brag that their "wrong forum" comment was correct; step away from the keyboard and GET A LIFE! (I guess giving people a heads up about preventing their Amex Blue deals from being denied doesn't actually belong in the hot deals section, sorry for trying to help other ATer's. -rolls eyes-)

And if my hunch is correct, that certain ATer will have issues with this post and have a mod lock/delete it (if she isn't a mod herself).

Thank you AT for the opportunity to vent, now on with the show.

Yet you're posting an individual thread to expose this person.

Intersting. Very, interesting.

Too bad we can't "vote some people off the island," so to speak. ;)

Then again, that might happen to me, and that's no good. Well, I guess then we just suck it up and live with it. Nothing wrong with a little retaliatory flame, however. :D

Some people are just very anal and have no lives beyond their two-dimensional monitor. Remember that when you're out having fun in the *gasp* real world, perhaps with your attractive significant other(s).

Vote people off the island? I'd rather flush my face in a poopy toilet then leave this wonderful lush hardware paradise known as Anandtech! How dare you spout such an evil thought. :Q:D;)

pulse,

I was posting to vent, rant, etc. about this person's pompous attitude. I included the link to show that my original post was never a rant, even though a specific person chose to call it that. The thread got locked, big deal, I could care less because the information in it is still viewable and there were people who indicated that they found the information usefull. What really frosted my weiner was the fact that someone felt the urge to drop to elementary school level and send me a PM bragging about their "correct" comment.

darkjester,
I agree, people tend to get too caught up in their perceived "cyber-status" that's why I made the "step away from the keyboard ...." comment. Also, you can see that I do get a chance to have fun in the real world with my significant other, and our little bundle of joy here.

NonTechGuy,
Hey, I gave him two valid hot deals ;)(and I appologized for inadvertently firing back at him), also I don't consider myself a nerd, just someone with a sense of humor most days.:D

DAWeinG,
I couldn't agree more (as to what, I don't know, but I agree)

They're a person just like you are. Cry a little bit, then move on. People are like that because they can be and cuz they feel like it doesn't hurt anybody that much...as it shouldn't

Damn, HappyFace, thanks for the visual, blech! :)

baffled2,
I think AnandTech should implement the "vote people off" option just so that HappyFace would have to follow through on his request :Q;)

I think you missed the point of my post and the hipocracy in your thread. You ask another forum member to get a life because you were unhappy that he dealt with something in an immature manner, yet you post a thread venting about this person, complaining about how pissed you were that they PMed you. I'm not defending the guy, I just don't think that stooping to his level in order to deal with the problem was the way to go. It doesn't really make you any better than him.

I dont see how he is " stooping to anyones level" or whatever.. he is just venting his frustration at being mistreated

I agree, it is really pathetic how some people take this place SO seriously. I have met some great people here, and it is nice to be able to do that, but seriously, get out a little more often... its just sad how people that have like 10k+ posts strut around acting like they own the place....

The main thing we all need to try to do is be curtious and nice. It's not that hard, and it doesn't take too much effort. If someone else ticks you off, so is life. I do have to agree though, PullMyFinger... I'm not saying anyone specific does this, but there are some people on AT that tend to be quick to judge and kinda harsh. I personally just laugh at people like that and then ignore them. :)

Hell, I've been called a jerk and an a$$hole just for trying to help other members with hot deals.

pulse,
I'm not trying to make myself better than the other person, I've already stated that people are too wrapped up in their on-line egos.

Bottom line is, I started a thread in the interest of helping others. This person chose to thread crap. I replied that I disagree. The thread got locked and the person felt it necessary to continue the rant via PM. I started this thread in an attempt to bring this type of behavior to light (especially because it was from a senior member). Call it what you will but I don't consider it hypocracy.
