What is this guy smoking?

Actually he's not that far off in his asking price KBB puts a 97 supra in excellent condition with all the amenities @ 42,000.

I wouldn't pay that much for one, but it's definitely not something I'd kick out of my driveway...

Finding an unmolested TT Supra is nearly impossible. The exclusivity of this model warrants an exorbitant price (although, I wouldn't suggest one THAT high - maybe mid 30's 😛 )

KBB's about 37k, and his after market stereo stuff is worth a lot, his Eclipse NAV unit alone retails for 2k, froogle is turning up $1.500 lowest. The rest of his stereo stuff might be another 3.5k. Doesn't list the model # but if his subs are w7's, 3 of those in a custom box will run you easily $1500, probably quite a bit more.

It might be worth some money, but you still will look like you're driving a cheap car with a lot of fugly glued onto it. For the price, why not put the money down for a real sports car? You know, one that doesn't need a bunch of aftermarket parts to actually perform? And I doubt this Supra will handle as well as a car engineered from the start to perform with a lot of power.

I rode in a TT Supra, and you cannot appreciate how fast it really is until you ride.

It was ridiculous. And with the amount of work this guy did.....it probably kicks some serious ass. Those engines are bullet proof, IIRC.

Keep in mind a 98 Eclipse with some work done is not worth the same as this Supra unless there a stack of cash in the glovebox. You can't compare a car that you can find on any street corner to a Supra Twin Turbo Targa 6-Spd (That there less then 50 in the country for sale)

From the ad, and he's not really all that off the mark. MkIV Supras are rare and hold their value like no other car. They've held their value for a while, but once F&F came out, it was all over. Prices skyrocketed. Combine that with the fact it's a 97 (the last year they sold them here was 98 I believe), it's a 6sp, Targa AND it's modded out... you can bet it's going to go for 35K+, to someone who really values these cars, 40+ isn't all that unreasonable.

I happen to think that, for what they are, they're terribly overpriced. But the fact remains they're a well-styled, RWD, forced induction 6 cylinder car that mods very easily, and that generates a lot of demand. If the 300ZX's VG30 was as stout, it might have enjoyed similar treatment in the market, but there are definitely reasons the Supra won out.

would be better with a single turbo setup, wheels that aren't knockoffs and without that nasty body kit
