I'd rather be a nerd safe at home talking to you guys here at AT and fiddling around
with my techie stuff than subjecting myself to a situation like before. ;)
Don't get me wrong....when the time comes I'll know and I won't let it happen again!

I wish all of my reasons for being alone ATM were so noble.

Just wait a few days.....you never know ;)

I'm questioning that decision ATM. :p

LOL....I guess that really makes me a nerd huh?

wish there were more resources for women out there in these kinds
of situations....

but thanks for the  :D
and the thoughts....

the best advice I can possibly give you is to learn how to defend yourself....

Take a course in martial arts or self defence.

If some guy in the future tries that sh!t on you again, he'll be lying down on the floor before he accomplishes anything

While that's not a bad idea, it is attacking the symptoms instead of the illness. The biggest problem comes from people (men and women, a lot of people seem to forget that) not believing they deserve better, or are being mistreated, or thinking they're too "in love" to get what they truly deserve. Until they accept that abusive behavior is not right, the self defense won't help.

And at that point, emotional and financial support are just as important. There are plenty of resources to help WOMEN with this, although there can never be enough resources.

and may I add to this that it is the abusers that need help too.
My ex was mandated to a violence control program after this by the Courts.
Don't know if it helped, but I think its an essential mandate.

Your input on the subject is definitely welcomed. :)

I think that's a great start, but I'd love to see stricter penalties for these issues. It's also tough to get protection from the man before he does anything violent, and that's a damn shame.

absolutely...there should be stricter penalties, and some states are actually imposing them
due to the increase in abuse cases.

I am very careful now about the choices I make and if there is any question, I remain alone
which is where I'm at
in this point in my life. Better safe than sorry.....:)
