Country truly is bad. The lyrics are all about some freaking hick kid growing up and being a man by going fishing with his dad and getting bent over a barrel by Uncle Dean. Utter garbage.

Sorry, but Modest Mouse (with the exception of the new album) is better than 95% of music around now adays. Interpol's first album was pretty good also. Not original mind you, but alot better than most.

2. Ashlee Simpson (yes, lip-synching lack of talent is a genre.. :p )
3. Japanese and/or Chinese pop music
4. Broadway show tunes

Since you're being more specific, I'd add Korean pop to that list.

Sorry but modest mouse, if it was the only music in the world, would encourage me to stab my ears in with a sledge hammer and screw driver. Using the word 'grating' to describe the lead singer's voice is far too kind. That aside, their few good songs are sandwhiched between filthy sh*t songs, but I suppose some people might call those "unique" songs good. I call them pathetic and offensive to good taste.

I'm basing that on their last album. I'd never heard of these clowns before that, so if their previous music is better (impossible if that lead singer was singing then), then I withdraw my criticism of their pre "good news for people who hate this music" album.

At least it's music with meaning, as opposed to 99% of all other genres these days.

By the way... go listen to some Keith Urban, he'll change your opinion of country music.

Skoorb, I will give you that Isaac's voice can be abit bothersome, but since I like the music well enough I can overlook it. Honestly give Lonesome Crowded West a try. Their new album is a 360 degree change from their old stuff.

Sorry, this is just my opinion but Metallica isn't the end all be all that it's hyped to be either. If I may ask what's examples of 80-s to 90's rock you like?

Whoa Nelly

I'll admit it... I like that song. I'm sure most people here won't admit half the music that they like though because it isn't cool to like anything but metal or indie crap.
