Beautiful Katamari is the worst of the series, receiving poor reviews for many sites, such as
"Beautiful Katamari does something very wrong--it tarnishhes the series' hallmark simplicity and ease.". It has an average of 74 on metacritic, but I believe most of those points are simply because it is a Katamari game.
The whole attraction to Katamari was how different it was. I found it exhilarating in the original to go from rolling up small legos and batteries to rolling up world monuments, such as the Arc de Triomphe and Pyramids at Giza. Finally, I found myself rolling up countries and continents.
The games quirkiness was unequaled by most easily available games. However, the unusual factor that made the game so great fails to transfer to sequels, as they just add reinforcement to a now old concept. Beautiful Katamari does a great injustice, not only by failing to add anything great, but also by adjusting some key Katamari concepts for the worse.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the worst game I've played in 2007. It would have to be Super Paper Mario
