for you home brewers, what is the worst brand of coffee you've ever purchased?

for me, it was dunkin donuts coffee beans. it was so stale and tasted like acid, sort of like when the coffee maker doesn't get to a high enough temp, except that mine did since i had other coffee beans to compare it to.
ended up using the rest of those beans in a vase for decoration

I drank Dunkin Donuts till I started drinking whats in my sig. I guess I'm not a good person to ask lol.

But the worst I've ever had is Starbucks instant. I rarely pour coffee out but I had no choice.

Work buys the Folgers "original" in the pre-measured packets. That stuff is horrible. Absolutely horrible.

I actually like the Italian roast ones. Not bad at all. And I'm a french press snob.

Not sure what it was, but it was when I was in county. Some sort of instant-powder, that had to be mixed in cold water if the deputies took our water heater as punishment that day....

Awful.

It wasn't a brand, but when I was in Italy last time I asked for American Coffee one place, and they made me coffee using espresso in a french press. It was like drinking mud.

Maybe you just got a bad bag. Its an OK everyday coffee for me, but I don't usually brew it myself (get it from the DD store). I was given a bag of DD French Vanilla beans (or some flavor like that) as a stocking stuffer, and it was horrendous. The regular bags I've received were fine otherwise.

Not sure why you would specify "American coffee."

LOL. They thought you ordered this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caff%C3%A8_Americano

"Caffè Americano, or Americano (Italian: American coffee) is a style of coffee prepared by adding hot water to espresso, giving a similar strength but different flavor from regular drip coffee. The strength of an Americano varies with the number of shots of espresso and the amount of water added"

Did it taste like the runs? Would explain much.

If you want American style coffee you have to say you want "Cafe Americana". If you just say you want coffee you get espresso. When you order cafe americana, most places will make an espresso in a large coffee mug and give you a pot of hot water on the side to mix it with so it ends up like regular american coffee. It's pretty good actually.

For some reason this place made it using a french press with espresso grounds which went right through the filter.

Worst actual coffee: Got "Kenyan blend" or something from Dunn Bros. Tasted "green," like the beans hadn't been fully roasted or something. Very watery and strange. Maybe it was just a bad batch.

Worst coffee-like drink: McDonalds McCafe. Tastes like hot, artificially flavored non-dairy creme with oil and extra chemicals mixed in. Absolutely revolting.

anything out of a k-cup device

I disagree.

Some of the coffee's I've had out my Keurig cups have been really good...not that I'm any sort of coffee expert.

With the purchase of the Keurig I have actually started to drink coffee and find some I really like.

So far any of the "Barista Prima" or the "Coffee People" brands have been very good.

it's like watered down coffee to me. I use 4x as much coffee in a single serving. I've never opened up a k-cup so 4x might be an optimistic guess.
