What is the oldest artifact you own?

AnyMal

Lifer
Let's see who owns the oldest item on ATOT. If you can, post pics, background story, and maybe a value if you know it.

Mother-in-laws and old underwear do not qualify 😛

Edit: forgot to start it off right. I own 1903 Moisin Nagant rifle, several Russian banknotes from mid to late 1800's.

I have a scroll that was part of the original collection of the dead sea scrolls. It was taken by my great great great great grandfather who was an archaelogist. It apparently was written by Jesus himself and never made it into the bible. I was thinking about getting it touched up to remove some of the stains and having it laminated.

This little Egyptian statue..

It was bought for me off the antiquities market in Egypt by a friend of mine....It's fairly old...Not really worth anything, since it's about 3 inches high...from the 2nd century AD is what I'm told...kinda cool....

We have some old tin photos in my family circa 1860ish tho we arent sure of the exact date we can just guess from the approximate ages of the family members in the pictures...beyond that We're got a family bible with a print date of 1896. A bunch of morgan silver dollars....a confederate nickel. And a sapphire ring That was my great-great-great grandma's.

Guess we are packrats 😛

Excellent idea! :thumbsup::laugh:

I have some shells from the cretaceous... so 65 million years ago at the youngest.

Edit: I'm a geography major.. I should know that's not an artifact because it's not created by humans. I guess I don't know what my oldest artifact is.

No offense, but pics or shens...I find that one hard to believe, but if it's true, that's freakin awesome...

Aside from the obligatory coins and banknotes...not much, I guess. Maybe my <Toy Story Guy> mint condition 1982 straight-arm Snake Eyes with all original accessories?! </Toy Story Guy>

😱😀

I don't have anything. I have sorta a rule if I don't use something in 6 months it get thown away no matter the value because I can't stand clutter.

My wife OTOH collects porcelin dolls, christmas tree ornaments, and other stuff. She has some from the 1800's and I won't even tell you what she paid for some of them.

:sigh;

Sometimes things are too sad to even be funny....

Some old metal globe I found in my great aunts shed, she gave it to me. It has Korea as one country, India has (Britain) beneath it, and Germany controls a good portion of Africa.

Looks like SagaLore caught another one. Two fish with one hook! Wow.

As for me... I have a map of Alaska that was published in 1894. Instead of Canada it shows the Great White North as a "Brittish Posession". Pretty cool.
