Why should I be "nice?" I'm not the "tolerant left." Taj shits up every thread he posts in with his mere presence.

The only way the Ignore function will really work against these walking second-trimester abortions is if pretty much everyone does it at once. Until then, there's nothing left to do but ridicule mercilessly.

This is part of the reason we thank the NRA.

"
“The State of California’s desire to criminalize simple possession of a firearm magazine able to hold more than 10 rounds is precisely the type of policy choice that the Constitution takes off the table,” the injunction read.

Benitez added that “a final decision will take too long to offer relief, and because the statute will soon visit irrevocable harm on Plaintiffs and all those similarly situated a state-wide preliminary injunction is necessary and justified to maintain the status quo.”

The judge granted the request of attorneys from the National Rifle Association-affiliated California Rifle & Pistol Association to temporarily block the law."

Yep- those high capacity magazines are mighty handy in a mass murder scenario. It's why Mexican Cartels love their AR's.

It's one of those dark fantasy freedumb things, right?

That they totally acquire by purchasing them legally from California gun stores after passing rigorous background checks.

yep, those ARs with their "high capacity magazines" (e.g. standard capacity) are absolutely death machines. that's why they account for the vast majority of homicides, right? oh wait...

What you want to do is find the weapons used in mass killings. If you're just looking at homicides a lot of those are domestic to begin with. You don't want to bring in how guys who can't figure out women probably should have guns...

This is exactly what I was talking about. Silly, irrational views like this are exactly why the NRA has become the over bloated monster it is. The left helped create this.

I'm pretty sure the problem is the people who commit acts of gun violence who are to blame, not the people responding to that violence.

Side note: why can't we have background checks? I realize only 95% of the U.S. wants them, and without it being unanimous we can't do anything... but there ought to be a tipping point, right?

I'm fine with universal background checks on all gun sales, private included. I think that's a measure that can make a true improvement in reducing gun related crime over time while not infringing on our rights. I'm not ok with feel-good do-nothing laws that do infringe on our rights (and do nothing tangible to help reduce gun crime). Things like suppressor bans, magazine capacity limits, "military" or "assault" weapon bans, ammo bans / unfair ammo-taxes, opening the door to sue gun and ammo manufacturers when their products are used for evil intent, etc. Things like that are exactly why the NRA exists and has become what it is today.

Where do you live that doesn't have background checks? I know it's hard for you, but be honest. Where do you live that DOESN'T have background checks?

The last polling I saw said actually 95% want background checks. So who do you think stands in the way of them?

Also, those regulations you cite are political gamesmanship. I'm not a fan, but I don't mistake it for genuine efforts to do anything about gun violence, it's to secure re-election in their district/state with a show.

I think the NRA likely is standing in the way. I already made it clear in my first post in this thread I'm not a fan of the NRA and what they have become. But, as I also pointed out, they've become so overly reactive, even to common sense legislation, because of how intrusive and irrational the left has been in regards to guns and all their attempts to limit our rights. They helped create this, they own a large part of what the NRA has become. They pushed too hard in nonsensical ways, and created a monster.

Ever wonder why there isn't an NAA (National Alcohol Association) and NTA (National Tobacco Association) even though they kill far more people (including innocents, at least for tobacco) than guns? The anti-gunners hold guns to a standard nothing else is held to, and now they have the NRA because of their anti-constitutional attacks on the 2nd.
