For instance, not too long ago, I found a girl with a beautiful face and so-so rest. I liked her a lot, but she turned out to have a wacky personality, so that went down the drain within a couple of weeks.

BTW, I was told a couple of a times that I am a post-modernist. What does this mean?

YES to strong fingers ;) btw, who is telling you you're postmodernist? It means you have transcended modernity ;) Actually, I'd take that to mean you're interdisciplinary, holistic, integrated, and reflexive, that your philosophcal views are not bound to a fragmented, ridigly distinct or "objective" interpretation of reality. Of course, get 10 postmodernists in a room and they'd disagree :D

short and soft huh?
Good grief, you guys have dirty minds. :p He's a touch soft in the tummy, which is must be genetics-based because he eats well and dances/works out 6 hours/day. Fine by me, makes for a better pillow. :)

Peace,
Dezign

i know but are you happy with a guy who is only average? i wouldnt be ok with that...i would struggle with her looks...so you should make sure you can be happy with an "average" guy.....

my thing is go for looks...stay for everything else....

the everything else colors my perception of average

if I wanted plastic, I'd buy a vibe

see original post: face...and tight body...everything else is average would be ok...not plastic

Focusing on some ideal of perfection as the end all = *plastic* people. I like a few "flaws". Like one tooth that is slightly out of line from the rest. It makes the whole package much more real and beautiful. That's what I mean by plastic (and not necessarily plastic surgery). Plastic = fake. Each man is different and can be PHYSICALLY sexy in his own way. When you throw personality into the mix, even an average or "ugly" man can be devastatingly attractive.

Ooooh crap! So that is my problem... I'm too perfect!

:D

Hmm, well there are lots of things I find attractive about girls, but we're talking about the most important feature so I'd have to say fun loving/intelligent/nice personality. The world is full of mean, shallow, dumb as a truck load of bricks people, both guys and girls. Finding someone who's gray matter I'm attracted to is much, much, harder than finding someone who I physically like.

And just so you don't think I'm just BSing, no, I wouldn't date someone I found unattractive just because they are nice. But a 7 with a brain beats a 10 with no brain in my book.

physically - I'm a legs guy, and i like a cute face. oh and has to have brown hair....i am just not attracted to blonds

more importantly - intelligent, sense of humor, has some strong interests/hobbies...i like someone who is an individual, not a cookie-cutter MTV girl (i'm sure you all know the type)

That's the kind of impression I got. :)

My prof and one of my colleagues at school told me that after they heard about my term paper. I am arguing that I don't see a dominant "Confucianism" or in fact any dominant strands of thought in the Han dynasty so to label it with anything only misleads or distorts what appears to be eclectic-syncretic development of different schools of thought. Do I make any sense? :)

of course, that's why you have to look at religious/philiosphical developments in complete historical and anthropological context. In all movements (even the development of technical systems) it is the same thing but we want so badly to categorize and label it :)

A few weeks ago, I wrote an essay where I criticized an academic work that attempted to study the history of "science" and "technology" as a distinct strand of development. I'll send you the paper if you are interested. It turned out quite well. :)

lol That ownz. ;) Half the other guys want a girl who can carry a conversation, and you opt the other way. Which is the prevailing view?

I think the idea is this: if it is an intelligent girl (not just one who thinks she's intelligent but doesn't really have any clue what she means by a 'pulsar formed by a neutron star') then conversation is good. If she is stupid or average and is going to go on for hours about her hair, shoes, nails, girlfriends, boring anecdotes about "one time I talked to this person" then a mute button is nice.

I suppose that can happen between two guys, but if I am talking to a girl about something nontrivial it is exciting for me because it's a rare thing. :) So even if the discussion is about chess and it's not really that great of a discussion, it's still way, way better than talking to a girl about how her sister broke up with nine guys and she has a hair appointment at 6pm and she thinks she's fat and and stupid...

Smile.

Maybe most here are too young to understand, but...

you can see if a girl really likes you
you can tell if a girl is just faking it
you can tell if a girl is really a fun loving person
and
you can tell if a girl like herself

just by the way she smiles.
:)
