Hmm my brother used to live in Rockford... it never sounded that bad, but I never visited.

Detroit? I say nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

There's only one thing Detroit needs, and he's part man... part machine... all cop!

world wide, google says:

1. Bogota, Columbia
2. Juárez, Mexico
3. St. Louis, Missouri
4. Port-au-Prince, Haiti
5. Mogadishu, Somalia

http://urbantitan.com/10-most-dangerous-cities-in-the-world-in-2011/

how the fuck is St. Louis so bad? I don't feel like you hear a lot of people talking about it.

I don't know, I am 3 hoursish from STL, 2 from chicago, and we hear more about chicago then STL.

Hmm my brother used to live in Rockford... it never sounded that bad, but I never visited.

dated a girl from rockford for 4 years before I met my wife, my brother moved there like 2 miles form her house right after we broke up :p

lots of rockford is fine, but I wouldnt go downtown. and the south end is pretty much like driving around south chicago. or East STL(and I guess the northside is bad too?)

its very obvious you are in the wrong place.

Keep in mind when you see statistics for st. Louis it doesnt take into account the metro region, so in reality its not even close to many other cities.

That said, the pockets of crime are literally war-zones and are probably the worst in the country

And what is the racial makeup of the "war-zones"?

WTF???

How is that even possible? Remind me to never visit St. Louis...

From that website that says it's way worse then mogadishu "Overall, east St. Louis city is the area of nearly 65% of the crime."

If you've driven through east st. louis you know what they are talking about. Overall though, your talking about a miniscule portion of the general metropolitan portion that surrounds these areas.

Wikidedia:

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, its population of 319,294 made it the 58th-largest U.S. city, while the Greater St. Louis combined statistical area's population of 2,845,298 made it the 16th-largest urban area in the country and the largest in the state.[8] It also made it the fourth largest metropolitan area in the Midwest.
=====

Unfortunately the FBI and other statistic companies could care less about this "county" distinction.

St. Louis is one of the safest, and also most dangerous places to be. On the plus side, you always know when you are in a good area, or a bad area :)

I figured it was something like that, but still.. it's just really weird to see a US city with those other cities, lol.

I usually visit St. Louis once a month on average. I entered East St. Louis twice or thrice by accident.. those were the moments where I feared for my life. I look so out of place in that area.. it is not even funny.
