Whoever said that if you can only stay awake for 30-36 hours without a nap, I'm wondering what you drink. I'm looking forward to another spring break, last year in padre I think i went 36 hours, but I was pretty worthless at the end. I know I went through a 30 pack of busch light and most of a bottle of captain. That much alcohol will take its toll, I had to switch to captain and coke at the end so I might have some caffeine intake. Staying up that long is not good, I fell asleep while I was getting on some girl that I met on the beach. Vegas was worse, I think I was up about that long 12 am friday morning until 10 am saturday. I was worthless that day too. I don't know how you can drink and still be awake.

I did an experiment in college with this.. I lasted for five and a half days with tons and tons caffeine and I never sat down.. I believe a person dies in a week without sleep right? Anyways it was one of the most informative as well as idiotic things I've ever done in my life.. by the third day I had a weird problem where I always felt hot even in cold rooms or outside.. I started having very realistic daydreams by the 4th day that I couldn't avoid as well as a nagging headache from the caffeine.. by the fifth day I was in one of the most uncontrollable cranky moods I've ever been in and was annoyed at every single little noise people made.. I finally passed out on my bed midway through the 5th day. I woke up 3 days later when my roommate poked me to see if I was alive..
Sure wish I could find the journal I used to write my experience as it was happening.. anyways this was a kickass experiment on the affects of the lack of sleep.. a great thing to do for a person who has no life like me.. I'd recommend it to anybody :D

Found the journal.. it was actually 4 and a half days not 5.. oh well when I tell it to other people 5 days sounds more insane.. a good experiment though and the 4th day entries in this journal are hilarious.. I couldn't write more than 5 words in the entry and they are mostly sware words.. hehe.. I should put this on a website LOL...

I heard people die as well without sleep but I've also heard that a psych student (in some paper somewhere) once went about 10 days and beat his prof at some game at the end...so he wasn't totally out of his mind.

Personally I once did an all nighter and was awake for about 24 hours. I dunno if its because I was thinking or not during this period but at 8 am (no sleep that night) I was feeling sick and I couldn't think properly. I really really like my sleep. I get 8-9 a night which is a lot for somebody in their 20's

four days while I was at Army bootcamp this summer. I highly reccomend that you dont join the military if you have any smarts at all. If you do join the Air Force. Anyway they made us do that our last week of bootcamp, which is 9 weeks of hell. We had to stay out in the field in fox holes for 2 days. Then we had a 12 mile hike to the field battle field. Then we had to go under barbed wire and crawl... while M60 fire was going on over our heads to a similuted enemy and then rush them "Braveheart" style. Unluckily(luckily?) I had Pnemonia that week and didnt have to do much after that but stay in bed for 4 days. So I guess that made up for it. But hey 4 days with no caffiene and a 12 mile hike with full combat gear=hell...

42 hours at the last lan party. Things started going downhill after about 36 hours. I even had to go bowling about 32 in hours, and did the worst I've ever done (like a 380 series). Hehe, I'll have to try to break my personal best at the next lan party.

Longest ever I stayed awake, I'm not sure. It was more than 36 hours, possibly 48. But I did suffer Hallucinations. I closed my eyes momentarily, and suddenly a lion was rushing me. Scary stuff if you never had suffered a hallucination before.

Worst I ever felt the next day from lack of sleep, I was moving, and drove 28 1/2 hours across country only stopping to refuel. The weather was awful, started in heavy snow, passed through ice rain and fog. It took me three days before I felt right again. I don't recommend 1400 mile drives by yourself to anyone.
