I've heard Montana got no day time speed limited.
well, the federal gov't imposed speed limit during the oil crisis and lossen it during the 80's. some states have the option to pick their speed limit for rural highway.

I haven't ever seen anything above 65. Is that a federal limit, or am I just living in the wrong region?
70 is pretty standard in Texas. Montana had no speed limit for a while. It was something like, drive a safe speed.

You weren't one of those bastards who drives under the speed limit in the left lane, were you?
75 is probably the highest I've seen...I have this vague memory of 80, but I can't substantiate it.

Hell no. I've run tests and have data supporting my assertion that I get better gas mileage driving 90MPH than I do 65. I get 30MPG overall by running all my highway miles at 90 (slowing to 65 through areas where the cops like to sit), and a PATHETIC 24MPG by doing them all at 65. So, uh, I drive 90![]()

"One of the fascinating things we've already learned from raising the speed limit from 70 to 75 is that the accident and fatality rate has actually gone down in those counties, because people get where they're going faster."
Hahahahaha
Gallego points out that under the ambitious 'Trans Texas Corridor' plan proposed by Governor Perry becomes reality, all of the 'Trans Texas Corridor' highways will have posted speed limits of 85 miles an hour.

Montana in the "reasonable and prudent" days was fun to drive in. Of course I only had my license for a brief time at that point.

The US needs a no-speed limit highway direct connection between the west and east coast. On the west coast it can connect to I-5 somewhere in Oregon or North Cali, im not sure where it would connect on east coast.
Can you say 16 lanes?![]()
