What about morality?

Government should enforce morality of the highest possible standards with extreme predigest. Weather or not the people want it.

Yeah, whatever the supreme leader thinks is moral should be the standard for us all. Like underage drinking, drug use, draft dodging, going AWOL, illegal stock deals, rigging elections, lying about national security matters, etc.

Bush is setting an example for us all. Bringing honor and dignity to the White House my A$$.

I think you have your presidents confused...check your premises.

I think not. Once again, I'd rather have a pres lie about a hummer than an imminent national (NBC) threat
rolleye.gif
I don't get that. Why are they so righteous about Clinton's fib but don't care about big lies coming from Dubya? Then they just make stupid replies to you and ignore your points.

No, you would rather be a 'bottom-feeder' and just freeload all the benefits those, like me, who serve this country provide. You just sit back in mommy's house and whine about how we have too many Wal-Marts, too much military spending, too much anything you oppose, and not enough money to going to save the spotted woodpecker. All the while there are people, like you, would love to post stupid arguments on the internet about their leader, yet they are raped and their families killed if they ever expressed the views you display.

Way to change the subject. Attack what he did not say because you cannot defend yourself.

According to you it's OK for the president to tell any lie he wants and we still have to support him. Bull. Go read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and learn what this country stands for. Here's a hint. It's not stupidly believeing and supporting everything government does. This country was founded with the opposite principles. You should know that if you are really in the military.

If you are in the military may I suggest you stay there? You'll do very well in the military. Not very well in a free society.

You made the choice to join. Don't give me that crap about how I should be grateful. You joined. Your choice. You get paid. Just keep hanging out there on the military's dime and do your job.

As far as my personal situation you have no idea what you're talking about but as many other right wing fanatics on these boards you think you're the only person making a contribution to the country and anyone who disagrees with you is some welfare case. Nothing could be further from the truth. Your assumption only serves to highlight your ludicrous world view.

Firstly, I was in the military for 10 years...1st Gulf War, Somalia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Moreover, I still work for the government providing a service to my fellow (you included) Americans. Lastly, I am yet to figure out how our current president lied...that would depend, of course, on what the definition of the word "is" is....

Wrong again. Don't you have enough time on your government job to do a little reading?

This isn't about the definition of is. This is cut and dried. Here's what Bush said. See if you can find the lie.
Or maybe with your government job you just don't want to rock the boat. What is it you do? Cruise the forums posting support for Bush?

Take your time reading this. I'll give you a hint to help you find the lie. Bush only lies when his lips are moving.

"Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons."
United Nations Address
September 12, 2002
"Iraq has stockpiled biological and chemical weapons, and is rebuilding the facilities used to make more of those weapons."
"We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field commanders to use chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have."
Radio Address
October 5, 2002
"The Iraqi regime . . . possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons."
"We know that the regime has produced thousands of tons of chemical agents, including mustard gas, sarin nerve gas, VX nerve gas."
"We've also discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to disperse chemical or biological weapons across broad areas. We're concerned that Iraq is exploring ways of using these UAVS for missions targeting the United States."
"The evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program. Saddam Hussein has held numerous meetings with Iraqi nuclear scientists, a group he calls his "nuclear mujahideen" - his nuclear holy warriors. Satellite photographs reveal that Iraq is rebuilding facilities at sites that have been part of its nuclear program in the past. Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons."
Cincinnati, Ohio Speech
October 7, 2002
"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent."
State of the Union Address
January 28, 2003
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
Address to the Nation
March 17, 2003

The only thing I like about you is your willingness to exhibit a less than average intellect. You're inability to frame a cogent thought. The way you wander around the forum unable to stay on subject.

What is your government job? I can't imagine what you'd be qualified for other than the mop and bucket brigade.

I have come to a new realization. The function of government is to provide a job for xxxxxJohn Galtxxxxx. It's the only way he can collect from the government and not be ashamed of being on welfare.

Speaking of the inability to frame something, when you are not 'cutting and pasting', you are ruining our language. Then again, you hate our country, might as well butcher the language.

Now, sir, go run thread-to-thread and 'cut and paste' some of my mistakes.

You know what Galt? You're a complete idiot. I don't care if the moderators suspend me. I just have to say it. You are a moron. Period.

To so utterly confuse people that no one can answer the question, "What is the function of government?" Then all constraints are off and the answer can be anything and everything. The sky's the limit!

Real answer: In the U.S. it was to protect individual rights and to protect us from crime, war and fraud (which I guess is an extention of the first function). Today it can be whatever those in power want it to be.

The goal of a government is to:

provide an order to prevent people to gain at the expense of others (ie. robbery, fraud, rape, etc).
provide a way to split a common services to all that would otherwise be too expensive to afford individually (ie. police, defense, transportation, education (only to some extend in america), and healthcare (too bad not in america) )

but in contrast many country the following is true:

provide benefit for a small group in the expense of the rest (saudi, russia, and the federal government of US (did I hear Dick the VP and Enron?) )
provide benefit for its own citizen in the expense of other country (US, European Union, Israel, etc)

anything extra is icing on the cake
