Only other countries can punish it. By invading and conquering, you know. But I doubt that's going to happen.
The people who elect George Bush are not resonsible for his actions, but they are responsible once they approve of them. They became guilty once they reelected him. One might even go so far as to say they were guilty once they didn't remove him from office during the whole Iraq fiasco... but then one might not.

Yeah, I was thinking this as I walked through the ruins of Berlin the other day. And the bombed out shell of Toronto was a haunting sight. I couldn't believe my eyes as I walked through the once bustling streets of Tokyo, now full of bones. As they snapped under my feet I had chilling visions of the hellfire that swept through this once tranquil metropolis, and of the lives so cruelly and brutaly wiped out by that dread plague: liberalism.
It just makes me thankful that I live in America.

At an atempt to stop this thread dying from troll abuse heres my opinions from an outsiders perspective.
America has always been a shining example of the free world. A constitution garunteeing the rights of the individual if something even most "liberal" countries do not have. It's a shame that it seems to be erroding away until it becomes a useless shell of its former self. It's a greater shame that the majority of Americans do not care either way about it. I once hoped that my home country (United Kingdom) would follow in Americas lead and adopt its own constitution, hopefully based on the human rights charter and the privacy of the individual. Unfortunately this ideal seems to be further away than ever.
I respect the views of right wing conservative America, I believe that they should be able to preach and practise whatever they like (including their views on abortion and gay mariage, they dont have to have abortions and dont have to get married if they are gay). However I would expect the same in return, that they leave me alone to run my own life and live by my own values. The problem I see here is that rather than try and convince me of following their ways, the growing prevalence in government will force me into their way of life. Imagine the uproar if I tried to force them to conform to my values.
If America continues its course of trying to police the globe then the midden will hit the windmill. America is building up a whole lot of negative will against them. This is not condeming or condoning the actions of the state. If it was right or wrong to attack these countries is not my point, it is that the consequences of these attacks should be considered. Not just in terms of loses now but of resentment and future hostility.
I cannot see the current trend of politics continueing for too much longer within the US. Sooner or later there will come a time when a line is crossed and the people will reject this current way of thinking. Or maybe I'm just being optomistic. At the current rate and direction of change we are all heading for a world in which George Orwells 1984 will seem a liberal paradise.
Do not sell your freedoms lightly, they are far easier to remove than to enshrine.
(PS. Whats the deal with "terror"? I can see you can have a terrorist attack, but not a terror attack. You can wage a war on terrorism, but hardly on terror. Where did this bastardisation of the term come from?)

Dude, every nation has a constitution. All a constitution is a framework or collection of laws which establish a govt, magna carta, is your first const doc. But I agree, biggest problem, and has been for a long time, is politicians and peoples apathy in the shredding of it without a Constitutional amendment as required.
