Hehe, what a question? The problem with America, with the human race, is that it cannot understand what its problem is even when correctly diagnosed.

Everybody feels like he or she is the worst person in the world. This feeling is so deeply repressed and beyond conscious awareness that nobody has even the slightest inkling that this is even remotely true.

We do not know we feel like the worst in the world, we do not want to know we do, and we don't want to know we don't want to know.

The the consequences are devastating. Because we hate ourselves the notion of the Golden Rule becomes a disaster. We do treat others exactly like we treat ourselves, with profound hatred and contempt.

We have created a society that is based on hostility competition and hate. It is called the American Way. It is deeply psychotic and cannot be cured. Only the individual can escape. Humanity itself is bent on self destruction, the fate the worst in the world deserves.

That which you despise and hate you despise and hate from your own self hate.

There is only Love, so you can understand why you would be sad.

good point.

LOL - you told Moonie that one of his faux-introspective rambles made a good point. N00b! 😉

faux-introspective? I get them just fine.
Some waters run deeper then what a shallow mind may see from the surface.
Ever read much poetry?

Long time since I've seen you post 🙂

I think the biggest threat to the United States is the government. Eventually it will overspend its way into collapse. In the meantime it will continue to put a stranglehold on small businesses while saying that it's only trying to ensure fair competition. Most people don't realize that these regulations for 'fair competition' make it increasingly hard for smaller businesses to stay in business against larger corporations that can afford to take a hit from the regulations.

What if he didn't read much poetry? Does it have much to do with a serious analysis of the human psyche? In this context?

Personally, I don't think Moonbeam's post was all that useful. We all know that there are problems intrinsic to the human mind. Pointing out these is neither fresh nor constructive. We need to look at things from a higher level, a more practical level, rather than railing against things that can't be fixed.

a closed mind is a great waste.

Why bother changing anything? there all crooks and it's too tough to change anything for the better. So 'f it. right?
THIS is the complacency of what is wrong with america, lazy minds and complacency.

Too bad some of you all can't donate your brain to someone who would use it for a change.

I "get" them just fine too. That reply, like a great majority of Moonbeam's (but certainly not all,) had little to nothing to do with the current thread topic.

Yes, I read lots of poetry, actually, and have written a fair bit of it myself. WTF does that have to do with this thread? This isn't a amature poetry forum - it's news and politics.

it is about as relevant as the majority of the posts here, in a errr bit of a diffrent format.
Change starts with yourself your own mind begins step one.
How is that not related to the topic as it is problem #1 in everyones life.
We make our own limitations.

I have a perfectly open mind. I let everything in... and then toss out the bull#$@!. Case in point.

thats a lot of caps dude, all those B's just for little old me?
BTW I could care less what you think quite a few members here enjoy my posts.
I dont see you contributing much here yourself besides naming who is part of your "in" crowd like some swarmy schoolgirl.
If you "thought for yourself" and used your eyes instead of your knee-jerk you would see I actually wrote a pretty long response here. But then I guess thinking for yourself means thinking like you do lol, typical.

Unlike some forum members, I have learn to think for myself. I can see that you're full sh1t and I don't even read your comments or anything that has the name "Steeplerot" or the such... I have better things to do than have some piss match with some nutcase liberal scumbag.

 A lesson from which we could all learn.

So you disagree with my attitude? I think that you share the same attitude. To quote your sig:

"Fight war not wars!"

You have clearly chosen one viewpoint over another, and therefore (according to your ideal of open mindedness) have a closed mind.

And I have yet to see a compelling arguement to convince me of what is obvious.
Name calling sure isn't going to convince anyone though except that you all are acting like a bunch of e-thugs.

People like Rorin that bow to every whim of the Republican and Religious machine.

People like DM who think that everything and everybody is against him.

You actually touch on a good point. This rampant "victimization" trend over the last several years has gotten rather out of control. No one want to be responsible for their owns actions anymore. It's so much easier to blame video games, fast food, biased media, incumbant political parties, etc, than it is to say, "Oops, I fvcked up. Sorry, let me fix that."

Inability to see other people's point of view (if it's different from one's own)

Ganging up on a single entity/country for profit or just for the sake of it

I haven't labeled anything as "obvious". I also haven't called you names. I don't think I've acted like any kind of thug in any way. If you're going to quote my post, respond to it, not anyone else's. You haven't said anything that sounds like a response to my post, just an attempt to sidestep my point by equating me (in a most untactful way) with some of the more rude posters in this thread.

For a single fixable threat, I'll say corporate personhood. Since the court reporter notes on the Santa Clara Railroad case declared corporations as persons under the 14th amendment, they've used this power to strike down most restrictions limiting their power. In particular, corporations claim to the right of freedom of speech, which equates to the right to give money to political candidates and organizations, allowing them an unprecendented level of control of government.

Corporate-dominance of government has led to the same sort of corporate subsidization that led to the American Revolution. Remember that the Boston Tea Party as a protest against the British government enforcing monopoly rights of the East India Company. Modern corporations are continually advocating for expansion of copyright and patent monopolies to suppress competition from startups. As Bill Gates said, "A future start-up with no patents of its own will be forced to pay whatever price the giants choose to impose. That price might be high: Established companies have an interest in excluding future competitors.?

biggest threat,

corporate money running our government (hell is already running large parts of both parties) but with delay its become alot more lopsided (more money gets analy inected in the pubs party)
