Lately I've found one (Clan MacGregor) at costco for 1.75 liters for $13. just saying.

My favorite is Auchentoshan. In general I think I prefer the darker scotches for whatever reason, as the more pale ones like Laphroaig taste like aqueous burnt cheese.

The darker scotches tend to be aged in "darker" barrels. Sherry, port... and will add fruit flavors to the whisky.
