I am currently using TCPOptimizer, seems to be working ok. But there are times that it seems not to work. Like most of today. Any suggestions on a better internet optimization software?

Any program that make it easy to set correctly the TCP/IP stack is good.

It is set one time according to the connection and that is it. It deos not need to be used unless you switch from DSL, Cable ,or Dialup, or wise versa.

Thus I do not understand your statement, "But there are times that it seems not to work".

What I mean by that is , today its running slow, not the speed I'm used to. maybe just high traffic today who knows. For a cable connection what would the correct TCP/IP be?

If you are not doing unsaull Multi tasking with the computer and it is running slow it is probably a general slownes of the connection.

Could be your ISP could be the Internet.

As I said you optimize your TCP/IP one time and you leave it alone thereafter.

Cable is MTU=1500 RWIN=256260 TTL=64

Just a remind that Vista automatically optimizes some components of the TCP/IP stack, such as the window size. Not sure if this applies since he didn't state his OS.

Good Point.

As is, it is useless to run TCP Optimizer on Vista.

There is a way to disable Vista TCP/IP auto tunning, but there is No point to do it under normal circumstances.

Since none of this came up I assume that the OP runs WinXP.

What about this Network Magic that came as a 30-day trial with my new D-Link router?

I don't have any other experience to compare against this, but it seems pretty good.

JackMDS, is that any good?

If some one refuses to learn any thing concerning the Network use of the computer, Network magic can offer some limited help.

In addition, I do not like programs that constantly call home (I.e. the manfacturer website) for No good reason.

As far as Optimizing the TCP/IP stack TCPOptimizer does the same and it free and there is No difference in what it does.

ouch!

I'm reading your other website and a book to learn.

I'm extremely busy with work and have little time to give it, so it'll be a little while till I'm proficient.

Thank you for your comment, JackMDS. I have learned to trust your comments, so I won't rely on NM in the future!

keep smiling
