What is the best job you have/had?

By far my current job since it pays FOUR times as much as any of my previous jobs.

But as far as part time, minimum wage, while in college, type jobs, my favorite was probably catering. Setting up buffets, delivering party supplies, bbq'ing for 500 people. The best perk was the food. On days that were spent doing prep in the kitchen, we could pick whatever we wanted from the deli case. On days or evenings that we were on site doing a party, we got to eat whatever we were preparing for the party. NY Steaks, grilled salmon, rack of lamb, etc., etc., etc.

Damn, now I'm hungry.

EDIT: Oh yeah, doing maintenance at a college apartment complex was a pretty good job. We spent about half our time fixing things and the other half of the time playing Quake 2 with the boss on the 3 PC's he had networked in the maintenance shop.

I'm about to start my best job next week. My last job was great pay, REALLY great pay, but it was an hour and 3/4 each way and I had 7 psychotic bosses.

The TPS reports were bad 2 werent they?

My best job ever was Instrumentation and Controls Engineer at an AlliedSignal Corp. plant. Paid great, I had my own secretary, and I was wined and dined by vendors on a daily basis. Sometimes the hours were rough but the work was fun.

best job is my current job.

I work video production for a local city channel. I make my own hours. (to give you an idea I'm lucky if i'm up before lunch time 😀). pay istn't the best but its a small town and my part of the rents only 250 a mounth. also i get to play with computers all day long. Hell the first day my boss asked if I wanted to play a round of Unreal tournament 😀

Teaching martial arts.

I defy you to find a cooler job than one where people practically throw money at you to beat them up. Hookers/Dominatrixes not counting 'cause I'm no chick.

I like my current job. (Support Analyst for the Pharmacy IT hardware and software for a large drugstore chain) The pay is not so bad (sure I want more, but I would consider the pay to be pretty decent.) The benefits are good. There is awesome job security, and I really enjoy working for this company. I like my hours. My team lead is awesome. The work is interesting and far from boring. (well, I suppose If I was not a computer geek then it would be boring, but I really like it. My previous job was somewhat boring, but thats mostly on account of it being entry level work.) There are generally pretty many oportunities to move up (I just got this job about a month agoe So far this year, 3 out of the 16 people in this department have been promoted out of the department.)

Things I don't like
Real estate is too expensive around here, I can afford to buy a small condo close to work, however, if I want a house, I'll have to commute 30 minutes farther to find something affordable in a good area.

Aerographer's Mate in the Navy. I was a weather observer at Naval Air Station Whidbey Is. my first tour in the Navy. 12 hour shifts so we got alot of days off. My job was to look at the sky and report the weather conditions every hour. Doesn't get much better than that.

My job last summer was pretty sweet. I did tech support for the state. At first I hated it because I had to work with a guy that new less than I did and he made me do things the most convoluted and backwards way you could imagine, plus he'd send me out to move monitors and crap around for no reason, which sucked untill I realized that we had inmates there that were supposed to help with that kinda thing, then it didn't matter haha. Once I just got over the fact that I had to do things his way and just realized I'm getting paid regardless I started really liking the job. We shared an office, but set it up pretty sweet with a divider that blocked the door so the big boss couldn't check up on us easily, and we both had dual mons on our desks that we could use one as a test bed when needed. The last 6 weeks of that job (I only worked for 12 weeks because of school) I installed windows on one computer and that was it. There was just no new work to be done. I'd go in in the morning surf anandtech for a while, read some e-books on my pocket pc (harry potter had just come out so that kept me busy) Listen to mp3's on my ppc with my senn hd 590's (no one ever said anything about this hahaha) Eventually I started putting simpson episodes my there too and watching those, plus the office had a sweet gym down stairs so I'd just get up and work out.

current job is pretty good. I develop/engineer toys, work with hot women, get paid well, have a good boss, and have time to mess around on AT. my next job will be even better, which will be some kind of professional pilot gig. but I have a couple years to go before I'm qualified for that.

My first job when I finished my Bachelor degree. The pay was decent, not too high but not too low. I was the big cheese in the IT department (me, myself, and I) and my boss didn't know much about computer so he left me alone most of the time.
I remember when we installed the new Novell network, the other IT guy from Headquarter and I stayed late after work and played Quake and Doom andd we use the PA system to insult each other as we played...LOL.
The good: decent pay, excellent benefits (free healthcare and college classes), decent boss and co workers.
The bad: the pay is not that great, the stress and the hours (on call 24/7 and have to response within 1 hour time frame).
After I left and worked in two other jobs (one job and the job I am at now), I sure missed the good old days.

I like my current job. Die repairman

I'm good at it and I like fixing things. Plus, I make a lot of money doing it.

My current summer job (between semesters) is on a golf course. I am a ranger, which means I basically drive around and BS with the golfers. I also get free unlimited golf and $13 an hour......easiet job I have ever had....🙂

My best job so far was when I got to deliver cars for the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe. The pay wasn't the best (~$8.50/hr), but you got to drive brand new cars like loaded Denali's (one still had the price sheet on it and was like 52k), a Pontiac Grandprix v6 (which was nice, but I got stuck in traffic), and the (then) just released Nissan Altimas (3.5l V6). Since we were working out of the building that Tostitos owned, we also got free party snacks all the time, too. We ended up delivering like 200 cars and then picking them back up and driving them back to the dealerships after the Fiesta Bowl was over.

Unfortuantely, one of the major rules that we had to follow was not to damage the car. Whoopsy. I took the bumper off an Envoy (which I don't like the feel of), but thankfully the owner of the dealership just laughed.

My current job.

I'm the webmaster for UCSD's Associated Students.
I get paid $13/hour
I keep track of my own hours (clocking in and out).
I work whenever I want.
I don't work when I don't want to.
I don't need to be in the office to work.
The office has two new G5's and WiFi for my laptop.
There's a lot of free food.
I can usually get some cool stuff related to programs held by AS (tickets, t-shirts, shotglasses, etc).

I'm going to have to say my current job, because of the pay and because I (mostly) enjoy what I do.

I've had jobs that have been a lot more stress-free and with much better coworkers (working as a secretary, for example), but the pay tended to suck and I'd get bored after the first few weeks.
