For me, I'd definately say it is UT2004.

I've played this game since the demo came out in early 2004, going on 4 1/2 years now. I play nearly every week, for several hours a week still. I've been in clans and been server admins for the game and it still never gets old.

I've got about 30 gigs worth of game files including custom maps, mutators, mods and total conversions. In addition to the original single player and multiplayer gameplay, to name just a few of the mods I can play: racing games, wacky tournaments, adventure games, side scroller and top down shooters, zombie shooters, realistic WWII shooter, tower defense, and even battle with cannons and airships.

All this and more for about $33.00. Best money I've ever spent on a game.

The original Half-Life. First time through felt like I was in a movie. I still fire it up via steam about once a year.

For MP it was Tribes. That game will always hold a place in my heart.

Call me old-school (or maybe just plain old), but probably the best game I've ever played was Super Mario Bros. Obviously not quite as interactive and immersive as current games, but I could play that game for hours and never get tired of it.

The original X-Com on DOS remains my favorite game of all time. A turn base strategy game, it's filled w/ goodies for you to occupy your time. You can build bases, research and manufacture and sell stuff, recruit and train soldiers, intercept and investigate shot down UFOs. The suspense is awesome.

World of Warcraft and Civilization 2 for most hours played.
Battlefield 1942 + Desert Combat player made mod for best FPS multiplayer (BF2 a close 2nd)
As far as game awesomeness, Baldur's Gate 2, PlaneScape: Torment, and Baldur's Gate 1 + TotSC with EasyTuTu (BG2 engine conversion) and the BG NPC Project player made mods installed.

Deus Ex.

I can't even remember how many times I've finished it, and how many different approaches on creating JC Denton I've done. The script is phenomenal, the dialogues too, the graphics were good back on the day. Easily the most replayable game I've ever laid my hands on.

PC game would be Deus Ex, followed closely by Hitman 2 (probably the only person in the world that would pick that one). DE almost felt like a different game everytime I played through it. I think I'll have to dig it up again and go through it once more.

Game on any platform would be Street Fighter 2 (and CE) in the arcade. Hands down, no contest.

single player would have to be gta san andreas. so much fun stuff to do and definitely enough hours that it was worth the 50 i payed.

for MP, it'd have to go wolf:et. infinite value and i dont think i've played a game for longer than i did that game. also note that i never even played with mods or custom maps, just playing with the original maps, i kept going. had i tried out custom stuff, i would probably still be playing it

Ancient Domains of Mystery

Here by Thomas Biskup.

ASCII based game with a boatload of things to do and really really in-depth. Lost many months to that game, even more so than Diablo 2.

UT99 for me. I played against some co-workers till like 2am then we'd show up at work the next day to check the stats page and talk about it all day long. It was probably the best gaming days of my life. Now I just WoW but it's nowhere near as exhilarating.

It would be a toss up between Freespace 2 and Deus Ex for me. These are both titles that I have spent several years with in some way or another.

In general it would have to be RockBand. Going on 8 months now and I still play it at least an hour a day on average. I really haven't played anything on the PC that really stood out from the other games. Wow Might be the closest.

Based solely on hours played, which is as good a measurement as any,

1- UT99
2- UT04
3- ESIV:eek:blivion

Total annihilation, particularly when cavedog had the universe battle servers going. (Hmmm, can't remember what that was called.)

MP - SoF2
SP - not sure. I tend not to replay games all that much. probably because most of them have little to no replayability

Gothic 2 - I play through it about once year since I bought it.

Morrowind is a close second.
