What is it with parcel couriers?

I'd say that is unique to your area, that BS doesn't happen here.
Both UPS and FedEx deliver the packages when they arrive, no holds.
And standard FedEx delivers on Saturday here.
FedEx deliveries here are normally a day ahead of their predicted date given when shipped, UPS is on time and USPS is on time or no more than 1 day later than the predicted delivery date.
These are not exceptions, but the norm here !

Again, the policies of the delivery companies obviously vary depending on the area of the country you are in and that area's management policies of the company.

i'm in nj. that's been my experience. from what i know FedEX ground is contracted out. the other stuff is FedEX corporate.

I have had problems (1 in say 10) with delays and stuff, but I can`t really knock them for delivering a package late during the holidays. What I can knock though is if the package has a Money back guarantee and they miss the deadline, but then again if they`re late you get your money back right?

Here nothing is contracted out, all FedEx is all FedEx, same with UPS. (that includes their freight services)
Both add seasonal help and have 2 people per vehicle Thanksgiving to Christmas to speed deliveries.

Different parts of the country, different attitudes of service.

So it still seems location matters and policies are enforced better here than in your area.

If you are a stalker you can get in with FedEx and get gate codes. I don't have a gate but, one of the asshats in our life is stalker another family. The sad part is his parents own the franchise and are also helping. Corporate doesn't care about FedEx drivers being full nutters.

I have it handled here.

that's what i'm thinking. all other fedex besides ground is corporate run. when i splurge for 2 day fedex, things have been on time.

UPS must still be backed up. Ordered something last week and shipped on the 26th. Was supposed to be here today. It sat in a UPS warehouse for 2.5 days upon pickup before it did the first departure scan and is now scheduled for Thursday.

May be weather related
Everything here has been either on-time or early (from the projected delivery date at time of shipment) by as much as 3 days.
But then again, I got a signature package at just after 8 pm last night, and I don't believe that happens in all parts of the US.
