Considering that "Mr Ahmadinejad appears to believe that these events [the apacolypse] are close at hand and that ordinary mortals can influence the divine timetable", I don't really think he cares. link
He seems to share this belief with our president.

How about a link on that bit of mis-information? I'd like to read about where our President thinks that he can help start the Apacolypse.

Definately.....of course that would also depend upon their deployment.....Other than that Iran has older SA systems which are on par/worse than what Iraq had. The question would be.....where do we deploy these 3 systems? Mind you, their defensive perimeter is not actually that large.....

The greater threat to security in the middle east is Israel. They already posess nuclear weapons, and use them constantly to blackmail/threaten surrounding countries.

I think Iran should pre-emtively strike Israel and destroy the nuclear facility in Dimona.

Pre-emtive strikes aren't reserved for only Israel and America.

That's all fine and good, but how do you suppose they go about this? Missilies would be detected almost immeadiately and answered 10 fold by Israeli missiles and air force. An air strike would be disastourous as their air force consists of around 300 againg birds and some prots of hybrids they have pieced together..........
Israel's air froce consist of no stealth bombers or fighters. They cannot go to Iran undetected by Iranian air defense systems.
Neither can the U.S.

The latest Russian radar systems that have been installed in key areas in Iran are fully capable of detecting and targeting the "stealth" craft. The only difference is that they can only do so at shorter range than the non-stealth objects.

[/quote]

?

No aircraft is undetectable. It is impossible.
U.S stealth planes pop in and out of radar. They have an advantage as they are not detectable by all radar. It depends on the wave pattern of the radar system.

The Stealth plane that was brought down in Yugoslavia was being tracked by radar. It was being tracked by an old radar system which used long-waves (Stealth's worst nightmare) . It was eventually brought down by two SA-6 surface-air missiles. Iran has plenty of these old defense systems. old in this situation is actually better than new

Israel has no stealth planes. They will show up on radar at all times or they could fly dangerously close to the ground which will make them be easy targets for almost all of Iran's air defense systems.

Russia claims the upgraded S-300 and S-400 can detect stealth planes and bring them down. They also claim it can destroy incoming missiles.

Iran does not have an S-400 missile defense system (some claim they do, no evidence to even suggest they do). Iran does have the upgraded S-300 system from Russia (supposedly). It will be good for any cruise missile attacks.

Iran is in talks with Russia to purchase more S-300 systems. However, according to Moscow the talks stalled when Iran resumed their nuclear work and diplomatic problems happened.

Also what dangers are Iranian made U.S hawk systems and Iranian S-200 defense systems to U.S jets (non-stealth)?

As far as I know, the S300 and noewer S400's were never actually used against any of the US stealth capable craft. The way this is done to my knowledge (which is now become aged) is the Russians test it on their cruise missiles which have near equal in flight characteristics and stealth air frames.

As mentioned, Iran's other air defense capabilites or equal to or less than those Iraq possessed.

Oh, and the F117 that was shot down by a supposed S300 system was on approach and had circled several times......hardly a clear indication of it's capabilities.

Best case scenario:
1) Iran fires nuke at Israel
2) Israel fires nuke at every Iranian metropolis
3) US missile defense system takes down Iranian nuke missile
4) World peace, 2nd coming of Christ.

What I don't get is if Ali Khamenei is such a religious fanatic, why would he ever consider nuking the holy land?

The term "Holy Land" is used in the Qur'an:

And (remember) when Moses said unto his people: "O my people! Remember Allah's favour unto you, how He placed among you prophets, and He made you kings, and gave you that (which) He gave not to any (other) of (His) creatures. O my people! Go into the holy land which Allah hath ordained for you. Turn not in flight, for surely ye turn back as losers." (Al-Ma'ida 20-21, Pickthall translation)

Bush never said he was a messenger from God or anything of the sort.

1. What does it have to do with it? Using propaganda to stoke the fires of war when the last failed war isn't even over yet? Israel has nukes, that seems to have worked out fine.

2. So what? It was U.S. "Intelligence" that came up with the "evidence" supporting an invasion. We led (through financial "grants") the "coalition of the bribed". It was all bullshit. Are you not getting that yet? Hello? Are you barely conscious or what....
So now they start the process all over, and you and other Americans are ready to get suckered again? I thought you were going to make the ME into a wonderful Democratic place. That, months ago, all we had was a little "mopping up" to do? It looks to me like the whole place is getting ready to go up like a molotov cocktail.

Considering this is a nation who openly supports the use of "suicide" bombers. I dont think they are considering the aftermath, only the initial hit on Israel or the EU.

Remember they have 40 virgins waiting for them if they commit suicide in the name of Allah.

MAD only works if the other person is afraid to die.

That could be a wrinkle here.

There was quite a bit of refereining to 'Persia' and 'secret fire from the sky' written by Nostrodamos
predicted for June and July in what appears to be 2006.

Oh ! Doom and Gloom !

<Clips>

Rain, famine, war in Persia not ceased,
The faith too great will betray the monarch,
For the end began in Gaul:
Secret augury for one to be sparing. (C.1:70)

This quatrain foretells famine in Iran (Persia). "The faith too great" is the Islamic religion; the betrayed monarch was
the deposed Shah Pahlavi. "The end began in Gaul" (France), where Ayatollah Khomeini was exiled until he returned to Iran after the revolution there. The last line may be private advice to some
fated person who was expected to read his prophecies some day.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Gods will make it appear to men
That they are the authors of a great conflict:
Before heaven seen serene sword and lance,
So that the left hand will be a greater affliction. (C.1:19)

This quatrain has several possible translations and interpretations. The first line suggests that demi-gods
(or mere extraterrestrial aliens) will put on a display of their power for our edification. Samuel Browning wrote:
"The Gods are those who either have money or don't need it" -- the super-rich few who control the planet insofar as they can,
including financing wars. Nostradamus might be telling us that the next great war will be "religious",
such as a Moslem Jihad versus Christianity. Line 4 suggests that left-handed people will be afflicted (just kidding!).
Just as likely, God will produce astonishing natural phenomena such as predicted in the Fatima prophecy and others.
According to the most obvious interpretations of Nostradamus' cryptic verses, Europe will suffer another invasion by Moslems.
The situation will be complicated later by Russian and Chinese aggressions. Some of his predictions came true within 20 years
after the publication of The True Centuries, but most of them definitely indicate a future war between Christians and Moslems.
About a dozen of the quatrains concerning this war are dated by astronomical configurations that began
in the 1980s and continue into the 21st century. That war did not begin on schedule, but the prophet was perfectly
accurate in his timing the outbreak of the Balkan war between Christians and Moslems in the 1990s.
It is the opinion of this writer that the Marian movement (of prayer for peace) was successfully in delaying
the prophesied "wrath of God" for some 20 years -- but that grace period has ended.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The year that Saturn and Mars are equally fiery
The air hot, dry, long trajectory
From secret fire, the great heat burns the place to ashes
Little rain, hot, arid, wars, incursions. (C.4:67)

Saturn and Mars will be conjunct in Leo from June-July 2006. The "secret fire" is the atomic bomb,
which is top secret in many respects.
This prophecy may have been fulfilled in May 1986 when Halley's Comet passed and the disaster occurred
at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Ukraine. Perhaps Nostradamus? astrological dating was in error.
We will find out in 2006.

And on and on . . and on . . .

Yes its all the US. Why is the EU aligned with the US in regards to Iran's ambitions, like they were in agreement over Iraqs WMD? Should have left it up to the UN right? Just needed a few billion more of corrupted "oil for food" $$$$ and THEN they would have buckled down on Saddam. What a great program, only 10,000+ Iraqis died every month and Saddam was never brought to bear for his noncompliance.

Bring back Saddam, never enough maniacs in power willing to commit genocide. You can't help but miss the good old days of state sponsored rape, torture, completely repressed basic human rights, etc. Those silly Iraqis want to prosecute Saddam for his crimes, how ironic he gets the benefit of a fair trial.......
