All Im hearing on the news lately is shootings here and shootings there.
Mass shootings, small scale shootings.
Just hearing of a Texas man killing family members at a roller skating rink kids birthday party. Then killing himself.

I know its been hot. Insane canadates running for office on the airwaves every day.
Radiation leaks in Japan heading our way. Pending government shutdowns. Floods here. Droughts there. Fires and melting ice caps. No more space shuttle. Bullets flying in Arizona. The last Harry Potter movie.
Just craziness everywhere.
But really..... A shooting-killing at a little kids birthday party, at the roller skating rink?

Maybe all those dead birds falling out of the sky, and prophets of a dooms day just around the corner, was some fore warning that the entire human race was about to go insane?

Oh... Plus those massive political nonsensical postings by "a certain member" in the P&N forum?

The OP obviously lives in cocoon and dared to step out of it today.

Welcome to this vile, evil and heartless world. Come outside and smell the ashes.

It does seem this world is getting worse and worse. This is a deja vu from God's point of view, last time it got really bad he spilled his glass of water all over the Earth. "oops" 😀

Times are tough, and getting tougher in the US. Fear and uncertainty are beginning to take hold. People are getting more and more worried and anxious. Pressure is rising and people are lashing out more and more.

It does seem like there are more and more shoot 'em ups occurring lately.
I don't know... we seemed to be getting more and more fucked up as a society. :\
People are getting worse at handling stress and pressure. No doubt this has increased too.

There's been a lot of crazy shit in the local news around here as well. It seems more than usual but its really hard to say without having real data on previous years.

It is becoming a scary reality. Appalling and unfortunate as it is, we are seeing more security efforts. Police are hitting the streets and subways, doing random bag checks, and patrolling more. I think it is scaring me more than it is making me feel secure

Most of the really fucked up shit happened a long time ago. If you look at some statistics, you actually see that most forms of crime have been on the decline for some time now. Every single one that happens now just gets lavished by media attention.

That's ok though. As crime declines a stronger and stronger spotlight should be shined on the ones that remain. The less permeated by evil that our society becomes, the more aberrant and disgusting, and thus more newsworthy, the evil that is still around will necessarily seem.

Years ago, there may have been a weekly update on something like the Casey Anthony debacle. Instead, we were subjected to non stop talking heads and tv coverage.

It's the media. Simpletons get worked up over this shit so they keep reporting stories in bunches to keep selling their trash.

It's the economy. There is a whole lot of stress being added to individuals and families.

Not only that, statistically there is more crime the hotter it gets. Add in the general misery many have been feeling the last 2.5 years and this is what you get.

I wasn't even thinking about world news, there's always something awful happening if you look at the whole planet. I was just thinking of local events. And sportage's post at least seemed limited to the US.

A lot of these coincide with the full moon, that was about a week ago. Either the people planned them around that time or committed the act. May sound crazy, but my mom worked as a nurse for 35 years and always said that the full moon time of the month had the most ER cases.

Human nature is now as it has always been, the difference now is the 24hr news cycle where you hear a sensationalized version of every single bad thing that happens.

The world has always been going to hell in a hand basket. Now you just get to hear about on your new shiny android phone the moment it happens.

I was at lunch the other day and we overheard the table next to ours mumbling something about Amy Winehouse found dead... my friend pulls out his phone and confirms it within a min. News travels fast now.

Lame stream media is just reporting only shitty stuff they can sensationalize. Its irresponsible the way they act.

Reporting gun violence helps justify knee jerk gun control laws.
