i just read a great thread about DevilsAdvocate and his generosity in representing frankgomez75 in court. i was just wondering, what is this "Elite" title? and how does one get awarded it? not that i'm trying to get it; i'm just wondering how those that have the honorable title received it .
 
I think you have to have over 10,000 posts (lifer) and then if you do something really special that the mods like, then they'll elliteify you.
 
I don't recall the details, but I know a bottle of Listerine was my best friend for about 3 days afterwards.

there are several on here, cannot think of who, that have less than 10k posts.

I honestly would like to know what/why some get it though. I have been on here for going on 5 years and i still have not figured it out yet either.... any more than you have to be helpful... but other than that, i don't know.

It seems like some people (dmcowen, conjur, eaglekeeper, etc.) got it for doing something for the community. Then there are some people who don't really seem to do anything in particular but the mods just felt like making them elite for some reason.

Most of them have over 10K posts simply because of how long they've been around.

I got it around 1500 posts, so I've made 32K since then.

I agree that postcount has nothing to do with it. I got Elite around 5-7k and then custom title (Chief Ferengi then Grand Nagus) a while later.
