AZ, lots of jobs...that don't pay anything. I once estimated the average number of years it takes to pay back student loans for all graduates who stay in the state and work in their fields without any outside assistance or other income and came up with a minimum of sixteen years.

On the other hand, get caught with 2 oz. of pot and get sentenced for distribution and get 8 years during which, you can take free college courses for credit. Hmmm, Bubba and 8 years or ramen for 16. Guess that's why I'm a Chef! 🙂

We're the richest income/household in the country.

Note: I'm from Northern Virginia, not to be confused with Virginia. We're the only reason the state has any money.

ny - the state does not consist of one city called new york city that spans the entire state; people actually live in places other than new york city.

where all the jersey folks? jersey has the most retarded local and state laws 🙂

Indiana- we call ourselves Hoosiers, some of us refuse to accept daylight saving time, we grow lots of corn, and our quarterback is on every commercial on television during football season. Oh, and we're also the most sexually satisfied state in the US, apparently.

Michigan: Don't we have the worst city in the nation for crime (Detroit)? Relatively high unemployment

I'm from the U.P. so have lots of outdoor stuff and it's not crowded (which I f'ing love) with people or traffic. Plus you're never very far from water, lakes or rivers, in Michigan.

I remember, from when I lived in California, that school children don't have to bring school supplies (pencils, paper, crayons, that sort of thing) to school because they were provided by the school by state law.

When was that? I had to bring paper, pencils, etc. to my public schools in CA in the '70s and '80s.

Heck, Oakland schools didn't even have the money to pass out textbooks, much less consumables.

NJ has taylor ham, making it superior to every other state 😛

we also have legalized gay marriage, but so does Mass and VT to some degree or other.

When we lived in Davis, my son went to kindergarten (2001-2002) there. Just before school started, I frantically called the school district to find out what supplies he needed because the local stores didn't carry lists like they do up here in Oregon. The lady there said that the school provides them because California decided to interpret the whole "every child is entitled to a free education" to mean that it's illegal to require them to spend money on supplies. I assume that she was right and it didn't apply just to Davis schools.

My state, New Hampshire, has the best state moto. "Live Free or Die"
My state doesn't have an income or sales tax.
My state doesn't require you to wear a seatbelt over the age of 18.(probably something that should be made a law though).
My state has the Nations 3rd oldest city, the beautiful harbor city of Portsmouth NH
My state's largest city is Manchester, NH which is also the largest city north of Boston and once was home to the largest textile mills in the world. Manchester was named after the mill city of Manchester England.

Also NH has the tallest mountain, Mt Washington, east of the Mississippi and north of North Carolina. Mt Washington is the third highest peak in the east coast.
