What is (are) your favorite desktop environment(s)?

What is your favorite desktop environment?

Or do you really like more than one so picking a favorite is really difficult.

My favorite hands down is MATE, but I also really like XFCE (particularly on Manjaro).

I now use Xfce on Manjaro. But I started using KDE 3.x.x with Mandrake(now Mandriva) which I really liked at the time.

MATE when I need to get work done, it suits my workflow the best.

When I need to setup a pretty DE for someone I use budgie right now, but I spend some time configuring that before I consider it a workable environment.
Who knows how budgie 11 will run once they've transitioned to Qt.

Which brings me back to MATE, it just works. They manage to update their code without breaking my workflow.
I got a hunch that the people using Xfce feel the same way about their DE.

An honorable mention to tmux, the terminal multiplexer which makes my terminal life easier then any DE ever could.

For systems with less ram, Xfce and only Xubuntu because it seems more polished as it was designed around Xfce instead of a distro with it slapped on. Lxde if I must but overall Mate is my guy.

Don't forget Manjaro, as Xfce is their flagship DE.

Ehh, I haven't run X in a long time. My favorite Desktop Environment was probably Fluxbox, followed by XFce back when I was running a box with X installed..

xfce on ubuntu. Tried mint/mate/debian/xubuntu and didn't like any of them. These days; plain ubuntu with xfce4 installed on top.

If it comes to looks: by far KDE, but even on quite capable laptops (4th gen i5, 8GB RAM, GForce 1050M, 500GB SSD) it just feels slugish (tested with OpenSuSE)
Currently I am running Fedora29 Gnome, but I think I would prefer XFCE when it comes to usability.... quite light with a ton of options.

Writing this on more than just KDE. NetRunner has a specialized version, and it is pretty. A bit heavy on resources, though.

What about LXDE? I have it on my laptop and it feels as clean as Xfce does.

I like LXDE a lot myself, but I have read the upcoming replacement for LXDE called LXQt uses about as much resources as Xfce.

Why choose LXQt over Xfce?

I did try LXQT on my laptop and didn't like it, so I end liking LXDE better. That said Xfce is my main DE.

Manjaro the distro I use, is being ported to the ARM based Pinebook Pro when it is released by www.Pine64.org Which is why I was looking at LXQT to begin with.

Oh yeah, I see Manjaro ARM has KDE and LXQt:

So LXQt is replacing Xfce as the lightweight DE when Manjaro is on ARM? (See this is the part that is confusing me. Why LXQt over Xfce?)
