Daaaamn, that's crazy.
After 1 year, I get 40hrs paid vacation. I think I also get 3 sick days.

Private vs government, I guess that's how it goes.
Plus government jobs get paid holidays every time someone famous picked his nose.;)

22 vacation +13 holidays and I'd take a 10% pay cut for that. That's 4 weeks of vacation, most places you have to work there 10 years to get that. SCORE!

That's about 96 hours above norm. And out of a 2080 work year including the sick/personal the 10 percent cut could be about the same for your rate and to me time off is more important than money right now.

I get 10 vacation days, 14 paid holidays, and unlimited sick/personal time. They're pretty good about the sick/personal time but if I abused it like crazy I don't think they'd keep me around very long.

I get

?? 5 holidays
10 sick days (don't carry over & their usually when my kids are sick, so I end up working remotely most of the day anyway)
15 vacation days (I can carry over 7, started with 10 jumped to 15 at 5 years and will jump to 20 at 10 years)

yeah, what's the holiday situation?

first job, started at 7 holidays, 10 vacation days, 5 personal days. vacation carried over, personal days did not, otherwise i could use them the same way. after 2 years it went up to 15 vacation days. if i had stayed there another 2 years for 4 years total it would have gone up to 20.

current job, 7 holidays, 3 floating holidays, and i think 18 vacation days. floating holidays do not carry over. also you have to take a holiday 8 hours at a time, whereas i can take a half-day off using vacation time. i get more vacation the longer i work there, but it goes up rather slowly. (1 more day per 2 years or something). can also do "purchased vacation", where they take $x out of your paycheck, and you get 5 extra vacation days for the year. purchased vacation doesn't carry over, but if you don't use it by the end of the year you get refunded for the amount you bought but didn't use. i figure there's absolutely no reason not to do that, so i always do.

(edit: I had said "21 vacation days" before, but it's 21 total including the 3 floating holidays, so 18 are vacation.)

I get 3 weeks vacation, 7 sick days and 2 personal days. All based on a 35 hour work week even though I put in 50 plus hours/week but I am salaried so still get paid for 35 hours.

I'm currently maxed out at my company with 15 vacation and 5 sick days.

if we work holidays, we get the option of an extra vacation day or an extra day's pay.

Each year I earn ~11 vacation days and ~11 sick days, plus I get the 10 federal holidays and every other Friday off (26 per year).

I'd say the OP has a pretty good deal for just starting out, but perhaps holidays are included in those 22 vacation days? Still would be better than 12 days vacation and 10 holidays, as you have the flexibility to use those days at any time.

I currently get 25 vacation days + approximately 5 days around Christmas (varies depending on what day Christmas falls) As for Sick days, I'm sure there is a limit, but damn if I know what it is, as long as you do not abuse it, no one really keeps track.

Heck, I was was off for 4 weeks due to surgery and I got paid my full salary to stay home and recover.

I likely get paid slightly under the average for my job, but, the benefits more than make up for it.

It will be another 2.5 years before that gets up to 18/18. Then 12.5 years for 24/24

I get 24 vacation days, 13 holidays, and 12 sick days per year.

I can only acrue 350 vacation hours, I believe before I start losing them. Sick leave is around 400 hours, I think..but you can opt-in to a sick leave bank if you need more time due to certain circumstances.

I start a new job 200 miles from here next month and my benefits will be exactly the same.

15 vacation, 10 holiday, 2 personal, 5 sick days. It used to be 5 sick occurances up to 1 week each but we had a statistically high number that were sick 5 weeks a year :(

Scarpozzi what career is giving you so much time off?

I'd say average is 3-4 weeks.

It's terrible at my employer. You get 0 vacation days the first year after hiring. Then 10 days per year after 1 year, 15 days after 5 years, 20 days after 10 years.

10 vacation days
2 personal holidays. Basically exactly the same as vacation days except they have to be full days off.
1 sick day per month. Not sure what the limit is for accruing sick days; I'm up to almost a full week and haven't had to use one in a while. I guess I'm too honest.

So that works out to 24 PTO days a year for me.

We get:

21-22 PTO days when starting (depending on the department), after 5 years you get 5 more, and eventually (after like 15 years or something) you can get up to 40 PTO days.

Can "buy" up to 5 PTO days, which basically means they take how much you would make for those 5 days and divide that out across the year (so I pay a few $ each paycheck and get additional PTO days).

Can carry up to 5 PTO days a year

This year I will have 28 PTO days+1 day of recognition time (i.e. another PTO day)+5 company holidays. Two more years until I hit the 5 year mark with the company.
