I'm 29. I've been exercising and doing some casual weight lifting since the last week of December. I've lost a total of 16 lbs. I weight around 213 right now. My goal is to get to 170.

I've been taking 1200mg of fish oil (725mg omega 3) once a day since the last week of december. My question is that the bottle says you can take one a day. I notice some lower dosages of Omega say 3 times a day (which exceeds my 725mg). My question is what is a good dose of Omega? I heard people daying 2000 mg of omega 3???

Socially Challenged - are you refering to 2000mg of fish oil? Or of Omega 3?

I thought that the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 is what is important. So the more Omega 6 you eat, the more Omega 3 you would want to take. The ratio should ideally be 50/50 or higher for Omega 3. Since most of western diet other than fish is rich in Omega 6, you would need a lot of Omega 3 to compensate.

I take 5 1200mg (720mg Omega 3) three or four times a week.

I didn't know about Omega 6. From looking online this seems like a totally different substance? Is this a popular as 3?

I was told too much fish oil will increase different types of cholesterol.

Yes, yes it will... Except it will increase HDL (the good cholesterol) and decrease LDL (the bad cholesterol). In addition, it will lower triglycerides. There aren't any downsides to contaminant-free fish oil.

Tip: I buy Target brand double strength fish oil capsules. It has double the concentration of EPA/DHA compared to ordinary fish oil pills. Other brands also have double strength varieties, but Target brand is easy to find and reasonably priced.

What other brands do you guys utilize? I have only taken GNC's triple strength one. I have just started taking it. Any other brands besides the target one listed?
