search for another source then. 😛
find one that supports your view ftw.

your source looks like a geocities account, it has an ad for penis enlargement.
must be the ads are user specific. i didn't have a penis enlargement ad when i clicked on the site. you must be in the group they are targeting.

way to discredit your own source with a failed ad hominem attack lmao

edit: lol wikipedia
read much?
the wikipedia link is quoting the book The Intelligence of Dogs by Stanley Coren.

Rule #8: don't feed trolls

I spent quite a few years working as a veterinary technician, and no matter how fond some members of this board are of pit bulls, they aren't generally the best choice for someone's mother. Unless your mother has tatoos and lives in a trailer. 😛

A great deal depends on your mother's personality and activity level.

You should check out American Kennel Club for detailed descriptions of different breeds.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi FTW!!!

I think they're some of the cutest dogs out there (looks and behavior). They can be lazy or very energetic. They are extremely smart (in the top 10), but they can sometimes be mischevious...they shed a lot too, but a bit of brushing every day during their shedding period (twice a year) keeps it at a minimum. Erm...what else can I say?

They're amazing dogs! See below:

Most amazing dog evar (my dog)

I forgot to mention that my other cousin had a Shiba Inu. It was a very quiet dog, did not shed a lot and was uber-cute. The only catch is theat they are kind of hard to find and are a little on the expensive side.

lol this thread is hilarious, some great comments. "Honda Accord" Hahaha.

My first dog was a black lab/dalmation mix. As a puppy she was super hyper and high strung like a dalmation and liked to play. At about age 5 she really started to calm down and matured. She was always very good around people.
A second dog was half golden lab/half retriever. She was super high strung also but mellowed out.
My current dog is a pure golden lab, she's 2 years old and is a pretty mellow dog. She's extremely protective of the family/friends and doesn't like new people until she gets the okay from the family. Even then she's suspicious of new people for a day or two. She's all bark no bite when it comes down to it.

I don't think you can go wrong with a labrador.

I relly am pleased with my PW Corgi. He's bright, and very good with kids. He's extremely social though, so I think they're more family dogs than single retired people... They like to be around a lot of people.

How about a Beagle? My cousins have two, a male and a female, and they are great dogs. They don't shed a lot, they're obedient and they don't bark... too much.

Beagles are great, so are Corgis. My beagle pup is a chick magnet, nobody can resist petting him. Too bad it's usually middle aged women. But there you go, your mom should fit that demographic.

I have had labs, golden retriever, german shepherd, phu quoc ridgebacks (smallest variety of ridgebacks), and I have play with dozens of other breeds.

My bias lean toward labs, golden retrievers, and phu quoc/thai ridgebacks (short hair, rarely shed, doesn?t drool, and doesn?t have a strong odor) because they are highly obedience & are very smart. There are other breeds that perceivably are more intelligent, but they are temperamental and/or high maintenance.

Pit bulls are really nice dogs. My friend breeds them. He has a rare blue nose pit bull, and that dog is extremely smart, and a really sweet dog.

They aren't as bad as the way most people portray them. Of course, when someone is attacked by a pitbull, ITS NEWS!!1!! But if its any other dog, no one cares.
The few dozens pit bulls that I have played with aren't stupid and they are very gentle, however I find that the dogs mentality are a bit slow that reflects their owner attitude/intelligent.

It's ok. I knew one of the Pit Bull advocate / trailer people, would soon be along in this thread. Amplifier doesn't disappoint the expectation.

Boston Terrier. Your mom will die happy with one of these. 😀

I will definitely own another Boston Terrier some day... I miss my old Boston Terrier, Deedee, the sweetest animal that ever graced this planet.

Not only are Bostons really neat looking dogs but they are smart as hell and highly trainable. And the love you get from one is off the chart... yeah, Boston Terriers may be my favorite breed of dog. You gotta own one to really know what I am talking about.

i'm going to disagree with you on the poodles are not so nice. mine is just like a baby.

My dog is smarter than your dog.

Anyway, the ease of walking the dog will depend on the effort put into training the dog, not the breed of dog. Make sure your mother realizes the more time she puts into training, the easier the dog will be to handle. Make sure she invests in at least a beginner obedience course.

My vote would go for a female golden retriever.

penbroke welsh corgi FTW.

small dogs with big dog personalities and voices. a herding breed so they are very intelligent. they don't get all hyper or yappy like those overbred lap dogs, and they aren't obstinate like the little poodles. they do need walkies everyday, though, or they will get really fat and get hip problems.

Purebred standard poodle, female. theeeeee absolute best family dog.

Among the most intelligent of all dogs, do not shed even 1 single hair, don't have any odor, love people (expecially kids & women) & tennis balls.

The size of a standard poodle is in the range of 50-pounds, 15" tall at shoulder.

All that does NOT apply to a poodle mix-breed. Temperment of a mixed breed is totally different, and often hyper. You want only a mellow purebred poodle.

(Is what I have. Lover her to death. My dog, PIC)
