I live in NJ and I have Comcast. I love it. Downloading is very quick! Also.. I rented my modem from Comcast. Only 3-5 bucks a month.

Hey all i have a question..

Since i don't have to connect whatsoever like i did on my DSL, which was a dial-up networking type login..

How do i view how much content was downloaded during the duration of the connection?

like i have been connected for say 1 day 3h 5min with " " downloaded and "" uploaded....

Thanks.

That is one of the main things I like about my rented RCA modem from Comcast. It has performed perfectly, and I love seeing it on the wall. It hangs nicely on a pair of screwheads under it with the top held in by strip of velcro.

I heard the motorola surf boards are great, but ill stick to the lease if the RCAs are decent...

I've been on Comcast for several years now. I am still on the same RCA modem I began leasing in the first place. I chose to subscribe to two IPs rather than do the router thingy and am convinced it is worth it to reduce the headaches associated with sharing a single address.

Comcast does cap the upload and download rates for their service. It will vary from region to region. here I am ~1.5Mbps down and ~128kbps up. You won't be able to serve games for crap, but playability is fine with Comcast here (Indianapolis).

If speed is such an issue, you can subscribe to Comcast Pro where the caps are doubled, and you get 5 addresses. IIRC, the price is double the regular subscription rate. Linky to Comcast Pro Information

(modem brand will NOT affect your data transfer rates)

bjc112: download NetStat Live from analogx.com. It can show you your totals for the month, it runs in the system tray, also shows your current transfer rates.

Don't know what would make it run and close so quickly, since the file is an installer. I could upload the files installed to my ftp space, the installer doesn't really do much, just copy them to the folder you specify and make shortcuts. PM me if you want it.

Here is an update for people. I just ordered my comcast monday and had it installed today. After checking this thread and dslr.com, I was ready for it.

Here is a link to dslr.com test report here.

I had 768/768k Verizon. Not anymore after today.
