If you were to end each class with 85% of the total points available, you'd have a 3.0 GPA.

Oh, I have been slacking in high school, but for some reason a college that I applied to said I had a 2.97 GPA, but I thought I had like a 3.3 or 3.4, as I just made sure with the counselor yesterday. Atleast the 3.3 oe 3.4 is what it says for the HOPE Scholarship in Georgia. Anyone know why the college would say I have a 2.97 GPA?

you are at a C average basically. 3/4 or 75 % and its hard to get back at an A average.

What are you talking about? 4=A, 3=B, 2=C, 1=D, 0=F.

depends on where you go. plus gpa does not really == xx%.

one of my math classes was like 50% A, 40% B, 25% C based on some kind of curve.

averaging it out.
You forgot to factor in the 0=F. 4/5=80%.

It doesn't work like that. See my first post for the standard GPA to letter grade scale.

but that's not GPA

3/4 on a test is 75% which is a C

but on the GPA system, 3.0 is a B

4.0 = 80 = A & A+
3.5 = 75 = B+
3.0 = 70 = B
2.5 = 65 = C+
2.0 = 60 = C
1.0 = 50 = D

(At least at my college)
