What if Ron Paul is not as principled as we thought?

I really hope either this story is a hoax, or that he's only saying this so he'll have more of a chance in the Republican Primary. If it is true, then I think he'll get at least 25% of the delegates in the 2012 Republican Primary. From how I understood his newest book, he was against this. No mention of a trial, no mention of how the government couldn't even prove him guilty.

I'm still going to vote for him, but he begins to look more and more like a politician as time goes on. Being in Washington must corrupt everyone who goes there, even the most principled of people.

Don't fall for religious fundamentalists begging for your money next time? What did you expect he's a republican pimping the libertarian line. Like this is a new thing? Same idiots who fall for Ron Paul got taken by larouche and Perot.

Ron Paul could be a closeted neo-nazi fascist who rapes babies every night and it wouldn't matter a whit because he's so irrelevant in politics.

OP: Your convulted thought processes always amaze me. What part of the Most Holy Doctor Paul's statement that he is glad we killed OBL and that he voted to authorize taking OBL out after OBL attacked the US do you think shows a lack of principles?

404 -- Violation of principles not found

Mr. Paul said he supported the killing of bin Laden, adding that he voted for the authority to go after those responsible for 9/11. Mr. Paul noted, however, that he did not expect that vote to mandate an expansion into Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. “That authority did not say, it did not endorse invasions of nations, nation-building and fighting people who had nothing to do with 9/11,” Mr. Paul said.

Read it again OP... this time in bold. He's thrilled we killed the mastermind of 9-11, but did not support all the other nation building crap and the treasure spent doing it.

I don't agree with the man on many points, but I do happen to think he's one of the more principled national politicians on the American scene.

OP, you obviously think for yourself. That's good.

Next step: Think better! ;)

I would've thought he would've supported a trial.

I always thought he would not support the U.S. military invading other nations and that he did not support governments killing people.

Easy, don't vote for him. I'm not going to vote for him if he's on the Texas primary ballot.
I'm going to vote for him, just like I did last time. In fact, I just contributed $100 to his PEC @ ronpaul2012.com Everyone else should do the same:)

As far as I know this is the first thing I disagree with him about. I hope and believe it will be the only thing and this doesn't really affect me any, as it wasn't about his public policy. And he didn't praise Bush/Obama, so that was certainly principled. I'd like him to draw up impeachment articles against Obama, however.

You have now had the experience of many other citizens, a politician who you agree with the majority, but not all, things on. This is not a bad thing.

I have to wonder about the thesis of the OP's thread title, namely, "What if Ron Paul is not as principled as we thought?"

Where does this WE shit come from? I have always thought and maintained an intellectual feather weight Rand Paul out in some la la land is too delusional to have any principles.

But I still love the Brigadier comment of, "He's a doctor, don't they take an oath?" And like everyone else, doctors take a hypocrisy oath. Have we not heard of Dr Mengle?
Oh well, Brigadier just tickled my funny bone. As for Rand Paul, he defied the medical community by by passing it and writing his own self certifications. Yah hooray for politicians, anyone can aspire to be a politician with no requirements or licenses needed.
The only time we the people are united and happy with our politicians is when we catch one and send em to jail.

Ron Paul is the most honest and principled politicians currently serving in the federal government. This is why he will never be president.

Agreeed. And that also explains why James Madison was a dumbass. With government, the most evil men will try to get to the top, which is why we shouldn't have one. With government, good men like Dr. Paul will never get to the top, because they don't want to control peoples' lives.

Except if you look at his record its 100% consistent with libertarian views.
And contains none of this "religious fundamentalist" shit that you claim.

Your posts are such full of bullshit and lies, I'm glad to see no one takes you seriously in here.

Dr. Ron Paul is STILL the best available choice.

Thomas Jefferson and B. Franklin and John Adams would vote for Ron Paul.

I constantly read those guys' stuff, which is basis for expressing this well-informed opinion.

Here's one of the three, which really is all ypu need ( to see what a FANTASTICALLY RIDICULOUS JOKE someone like Obama is, compared to MIGHTY them):

Lol. Ron Paul is like any politician; willing to do and say anything that furthers his ideological goals and is as rigid as they come in his belief in them. He's the definition of an ideologue. The founding fathers, while bitter rivals some of them were, were open-minded compromisers at their core. Paul doesn't compromise and neither do most hack politicians.
