I found that post to be absurd too. What's your point? I never denied that I make pointless and absurd posts since I have stated that I come here to have fun. Nothing else really matters.

yeah i am gaining. At least my post count is higher for now.

Edit: Quote was taken from this thread.

You find what hard to believe? That I don't care about my post count and to prove that I do you post a qoute from another member.

I used that post as an example to say that some users find posts like that annoying. Stuff like that can destroy a thread. That's why people care about what you post, because, for some, it bothers them. Remember, this is a community forum, there are others that should be taken into consideration. You should have fun, but, for example, would you belch in the middle of a gathering simply because you found it fun? It's about getting along and a little give and take. Neffing is a major problem in OT, and the fact that threads such as this exist in FI is a testiment to that fact.

I also know that there is no universal code for worthless posts. You simply can't please everybody, since I'm sure there are some who find this post worthless. The problem stems when the post bothers so many people that it becomes a problem.

You're not the only member on the board. Taking away post count may work with the rest of them.

You said -
But it probably wouldn't.

And I made my last post in reply to that. What I said was in no way aimed at you (after all Adul is a third party in this discussion and therefore counts as one of the 'rest of them') - a bit paranoid arent we? Do you understand what I was getting at now?

What we really need is a requirement where if you choose to register at AT, you'll be expected to purchase and install an external DS5000. Plug the unit in next to your monitor (could use it as a dongle in the place of your password), install the drivers and forget about it. Through a direct link with the fusetalk software, you could receive feedback.

Post idiotic "neffic" drivel and *THWOCK*, the moderator invokes the power of the DS5000 and bestows a nice dope-slap on ya. This may or not be accompanied by a .wav file: "What the hell was that? Are ya dumb?"

It's all about negative reinforcement. ;)

Maybe you missed the part where I said I come here to have fun. You having fun is not my concern.

But who determines what is mindless drivel? I can think of one elite member who I think posts a ton of mindless drivel but this member is still elite for some reason.

You know, that's pretty cold. I don't think I even need to comment in depth on what you just said. It speaks volumes about your character on its own.

What does it say about my character?

Wasn't it etech who said something about respect? I think yakko just proved his point with that last statement.

What did it prove about respect? I have respect for Azraele but that does mean that I have to care whether she has fun or not.

Can you clarify that somewhat please. The way I read it you consider AT to be your own private playground where the feeling and wishes of the other members do not matter as long as you "have fun". You don't care if you disturb or bother anyone else or ruin the forums for them as long as you "have fun"

Did I read it correctly?

I'm hoping I didn't and you have some other explanation for that remark.

Hey Yakko, throw them all for a loop and change your posting habits. You're smart and funny, you don't post about the same thing time and time again, just knock off the neffing..or at least cut down on it.

BTW, I haven't a problem with Yakko, Certainly not Adul and I enjoy debating Ethech. Those are three members I would miss if any one of them decided to leave.

On the other hand, there are many Neff who if they left and were asked about people would say"Who?"

Likable nefs? :) Sure, why not? Nobody says all nefs have to be jackasses. Wait...isn't that a contradiction of terms? It's pretty much an accepted fact that nefs are bad. And yakko admits to being a nef. Therefore...he....must.....be, wait, let me try this again. By definition a nef is someone who posts to increase his post count. And yesterday at 11:00pm yakko had 19847 posts. Now, 26 hours later, the number of his posts has increased by 110 (19957). Therefore...he....must.....be...., oh the hell with it. Keep on truck'in dude.

Edit: And let me be the first to congratulate you on hitting 20,000 posts. You only need 43 more so you should hit it about 3 hours after you next log on. Congratulations dude...you da Man!!!

Someone can post all the time and not be a neff. A post per dat average is not a pure indicator, but rather a ballpark indicator. Someone conceivably post hundreds of times in a day, and all of these posts (or at least a large percentage) could have some substance.

Translation: Just because someone posts often does not make them a neff.

I agree with you 100%.

There are many members of this forum with a high post per day count that have substance in nearly every post. Simply saying that high PPD = Nef isn't fair.

ROTFLMAO !!! Forgive me, but the visual I was getting of a group of mods fighting over who was gonna get to push the THWOCK button next, "no, it's my turn now !" was so funny I choked on
my coffee laughing. With clever people like yourself here surely we'll have a creative solution to
this issue in no time at all. :D

I also like both Etech and Yakko and do think there's got to be some happy medium that allows
members with different posting styles to exist here in reasonable comfort !

i've complained about the OT forums several times.....it's discouraging to come to a technology based web forum, and click on "Today", and see that 95% of the top posted topics are off topic......it's becoming a chat room......i haven't been posting here long but even when i first started it wasn't as bad as it is now......now it's like you have to hunt for topics with any worth......and whenever i ask a question, i hardly ever get any replies of worth.......self preclaimed "Experts" feel that b/c they are a "diamond member" or watever, then they know wat they are talking about......that's not always true
