I'm not doing it to prove that only I can do it... I'm doing it because if anybody expects to be taken seriously they should provide backup for their arguments.

Infohawk "grades" people's posts as if they were research papers- abundantly footnoted and full bibliography.
No, I just demand people support their statements with arguments.

At least be consistant and do it with everyone, not just people you disagree with.
I don't have time to respond to every post on this bbs. I take more issue with some people's posts than others. It doesn't mean the people's posts I address aren't flawed.

If someone like that is honest and sincere, an informal forum is not the place to be.
Why not? You are not a mod.

Go read a copy of "Foreign Affairs." It's really disingenuous to decontruct a post like that...
Foreign affairs is a fine publication. There's nothing stopping me from deconstructing posts and reading more well thought-out writings elsewhere.

something only a manic obsessive would continuously do.
If all you want to do is insult people I suggest an AT forum is not the place to be... Go to yahoo or usenet.

Infohawk is 16. Wait until he gets assigned a school project and he will leave us alone.

Blech, I'm not exactly adding to this thread, but he's on my last nerve.

You know, for someone who seems so "concerned" about the hate, you certainly spout a whole mess of it yourself. Further, for someone so taken aback by the stereotyping and name-calling inflicted on the red states, you certainly do a number on liberals yourself. Let's review, shall we?

dealmonkey, if it makes you happy here:

gosh those republicans sure were mean during the election.

as i said in a followup the conservatives in my mind are partially responsible for this too, with the way clinton was treated, you did read that part, or did you just carenot to show it to make me look one sided... my guess is you must have just missed that part.

i'm not a republican, and i won't stand behind them but i will say i have seen more negative come from the left this year. A lot of negative, i would be glad to go through these forums alone and highlight some of the personal attacks that would reference this, but with blinders on they probably look pretty mundane.

you can take what i said and make anything out of it you want. Personally, i find it entertaining. i think it's great that anything can be skewed to make a statement other then what is intended, and i think several of you should perhaps consider going into politics if you are not already there.

Let me add this. Here are my political beliefs for what they are worth, so you can see where i stand.

1.Abortion is not my issue, i'm not a woman, it's not my body, it's not my choice. Abortion is an issue left to those that can have one. It's always made me wonder why men take up a pro or anti issue on this, when men really shouldn't have an opinion. maybe this is just people trying to control, regardless of it being conservatives, the right whoever.
2. Welfare recipents should have mandatory drug testing. If you want to recieve money from the state, at least you should be clean.
3. Legalize drugs. If you want to ruin your life with drugs, feel free. I'm tired of paying for the war on drugs. I'd rather my money go to rehab for those that need it.
4. Mandatory military service. Other countries do it and it builds character and country. 2 years would be fine.
5. when you get out of the military, you have four choices. a. get a job in the private market, b. goto a university, c. trade school (government offered for those who can't get job or make it in university) d. go back to the military (you have to be some use anyway)
6. penalties for having babies beyond your means. If you can not afford two babies, don't have a third. we will know when you apply for welfare.
7. small business operates without government interference, big business runs with government minority control to help with job availability after trade school, etc.
8. abolish the irs. Since most people will be employed at some level, we can do away with this part of government andwork for a better tax structure.
9. seperate church and state.
10. tort reform, it's just ridiculous.
11. since companies will have government involvement, they will not be allowed to be overseas, they will be here. any business that wishes to move overseas can, but will be penalized by the government
12. i do not forsee any nation being a threat, remove or troops from other countries and let them live their own lives, and use our troops locally to aid in law enforcement and civil affairs such as relief during hurricanes, etc.
13. i do not believe in gun control. people that commit crimes, don't register or purchase guns legally anyway, so gun control is a farce, allow citizens in good standing to carry weapons with permit.
14. jail should only be for violent offenders, more harsh jail terms for criminals.

Thats what i believe, if you want to see what side of the fence i am on. I used to believe that closing our borders was a good idea, but now as i am a little older i realize it is that diversity that makes us such a great nation.

I don't know. I find few people posting here to be so glaringly full of unsubstantiated opinion fobbed of as certain fact as exemplified by your posts. I can understand why you might find Infohawk's deconstruction particularly threatening.

Perhaps next time, you should choose your words more carefully. Considering your own hate-filled rant slamming liberals didn't really jibe very well with your alleged "concern" for the amount of vitriol and unfair stereotyping during the campaigns this year.

Personally, I don't care one iota if someone on the other side of the aisle pokes fun at the left or calls liberals "tree huggers" or whatever. In fact, I dish out my fair share right back at them. Then again, you don't see me starting threads to complain about it either...

Infohawk is 16?!?! I'm wasting my time debating with someone with no life experience, no mortgage, no college education, etc? Please tell me you're joking?

Something tells me this is true of most AnandTech'ers. What a waste of hours and hours. As if debating 30-year-olds would be any less waste of time. It just feels particularly worthless when you realize you're debating with children.

Moonie, the only reason you are defending Info's trollish response is simply because he seems to champion the same ideals as you....had this been a liberally slanted thread and someone of a conservative nature had the gall to post something similar to Infohawks usual trash, you would have been all over them.

There are plenty of college-aged conservatives here as well. That means 18-22 (or perhaps 18-24). Then again, we have those who just refuse to act their ages.

(You know who you are!)

I didn't think my post hate filled, or slamming liberals, but if you feel i did, perhaps it is your enhanced sensitivity and disenfranchisement with reality that has caused this feeling. There is a difference between slamming somebody and stating something. If i wanted to slam somebody, i would have included links and made it a point.
If you think my post was hate filled, you are delusional. Please re-read my post with an open mind.

M: Actually the reasons were exactly as stated. cwjerome stands out in my mind as the best handy example of unexamined assumptions leading to pretentious conclusions as I have seen posted here. He also seems totally unaware of it. I have also disagreed with Infohawk on occasion. Words like "the only reason" are hyperbolic and not endearing to making a rational case. Probably the only reason you are challenging me is that you don't like Infohawk cause he's probably gotten in your face. 😀 But notice I say probably because, unlike you apparently, I can't read your mind.

Funny as your reasoning for criticising cj are exactly inline with mine of Info....with regards to my "challenging" you and the possibility of Info having been "in my face", honestly I cannot recall, I know we have had words in the past but nothing which I really remember, I just find his incessant trolling to be bothersome at best, he never adds anything of substance to any topic nor does he digest that which he reads, instead it is mostly baseless rhetoric championing the left.

See? There you go again. According to your amazing insight, I'm apparantly "disenfranchised with reality" and "delusional." Interesting way to try and convince somebody of your point.

😕

I'm not being overly sensitive, I'm simply able to detect the irony in your statements. I bolded the relevant parts, and yes your comments were a slam on liberals. Why don't YOU re-read them with an open mind? I don't think the bolded statements in your original post could be read any other way. Perhaps you just don't wish to face the reality of your own sentiments.

Just so we're on the same page here, your comments about liberals were as follows:

Ahhh yes, liberals hate everything America stands for. Mmmm hmmmm. That seems like an innocent comment all right.

They constantly lash out at the right, and honestly i find it humourous that these people take themselves serious as they say and type the things they do.

Liberals shouldn't take their stances so seriously, because ... well, why should they? Mmmm, I see.

It's because they always run away from challanges instead of face them. If you really think this country is going down the drain,it's because you have chiseled away the common bonds that keep america whole and have isolated yourselves.

Ahhhh, more stereotypes. Liberals always run away from challenges, do they? Hmmm, that's news to me. I guess we're also chiseling away at the common bonds that keep America whole too? Ahhhh, whatever you say.

The left imagines itself to be the better choice, the smarter choice, but all i see is elitetist snobbery that pawns itself off as pretentious. Yes, more stereotyping. All liberals are elitist snobs and pretentious to boot. Wow, where do you come up with this stuff? Listen to Rush much?

but at least take the time to read what you write and see how ignorant you sometimes sound for the hate that you spew. For claiming to be so smart, some of you guys act like idiots, and i pity US.

Right. So one moment the left are nothing but elitist snobs looking down their noses at everyone else and the next moment you're doing the exact same thing! Priceless!

You call yourself progressives, but honesty, all i see is civility regressing when you spout your ideology of hate.

Look in the mirror much?

This post was an unsubstantiated and partisan attack on liberals, suggesting they are unhappy, suicidal, hateful, and not familiar with the real world and the work world. An attack-piece sugar-coated with a little patriotism is all it was. I'm surprised so many people fell for it really...

You have the right to say what you want, think what you want, and hate and villafy anyone you want as long as you do not harm anyone in the process.

Why can't we extend this concept to every aspect of our lives? Why can't I produce and earn what I want, and spend my earnings on whatever I want as long as I don't harm anyone in the process?

Blah blah blah dems hate so much so sad, RBH. They shouldn't be any angry elitest Minoritys Blacks and White democrats in the cities becasue Bush is winnah and everything is solved and this country isn't going down the tubes to a chourus of fundamentalist sheep's bleating leading us into wars and the decaying of our domestic issues.

Ok guys stop being radicals and fluff the OP with a "Great Post box" or maybe a "nice post man" You guys all just come out and overwhelm him with "logic" and "reasoning". Damn liberal elitists.
